I received my first pacemaker (Medtornics) April 1, 2014. Everything went along very well for about 3 weeks, then the incision began to drain - it had looked as if it was healing very well -- the site was red, warm to touch and as the days went by drained more and more frequently - drainage was clear red orange in color. They gave me antibiotics for weeks and it continued to open and drain till the opening was about the size of a pencil eraser and the pacer was visible. May 30 they removed it...

I've this has been posted elsewhere-I apologize. It's been about 18 months since my Surgery, and for the past 3-4 months the pain in my chest/left shoulder has been getting worse and worse. The pacemaker actually still "flops around" in my chest, and the wires or something protrudes from the pacemaker site. I get sick to my stomach at the seeing/feeling the pacemaker moving around and the wires protruding..I'm in constant pain, and wondered if anyone else has had the same experience. Thanks

Have many of you had to deal with pericarditis? After my implant 8 1/2 weeks ago I've been to the E.R. 4 or 5 times now with painful breathing and a painful chest. After the first three visits (all 4-5+ hours) with NO answers other than the 3rd time they did a CT scan to rule out a blood clot in my lungs and came back and said well you don't have a blood clot and I was like⦠What about the pain? and the ER Dr. said well you have pain medication and I told him I wasn't looking for pain medicati...

This year I underwent Mitral valve repair. Was done in March and although the repair was successful my heart conduction system was permanently damaged. This now requires that I undergo Pacemaker device implant permanently. Has anyone heard or have information regarding this type of issues caused by Mitral valve repair. I know that it could happen if the valve is replaced with a mechanical one but not sure if it's possible on repairs. My heart other than the valve issue was very healthy and my e...

I HAVE HAD A PACEMANKER SINCE 1995 (6 TOTAL), WITHOUT ANY COMPLICATIONS. RECENTLY MY PULSE RATE HAS VARIED FROM 40 BPM TO 80 BPM. PACEMAKER CHECKUP DOES NOT SHOW ANY ABNORMAL ACTIVITY. HAS ANYONE HAD A SIMILAR EXPERIENCE?

So I had my pacemaker implanted yesterday, and they lost the little temporary card they were supposed to send me home with. It was supposed to be sent back to my room with me, and it was never found. Does anyone know if this is particularly important? I'm not flying any time soon, but should I ask my doctor of he can find me another one? How long does it take for the actual card to arrive?

I had a pacemaker implanted in late March of this year to treat heart block. The cardiologist assured me that I'd feel great and after the incision healed be able do anything I wanted to.
As soon as I got up and walked around the cardiac ward after the implantation, I knew something was wrong. But I was assured everything was alright. The morning after they let me out of the hospital I was back in the emergency room. I had developed in atrial flutter which was driving me into tachycardia. I...

I was wondering if I could get any feedback or information on a problem I'm experiencing with my pacer. I'm having really weird sensations on the left side of my body which is the side where my device is. It feels like the left side is tingling really bad then my heart rate feels like it is getting weak and I get very very light headed as though I'm going to pass out. Then my heart will start beating really fast. When my dr put my pacer in he ablated my AV node and I have a demand pacer. But, t...

Hi everyone. I haven't been on for awhile as things were going so good. No asthma issues since March, exercising regularly, but very overweight no matter what I do or eat... I'm a 60 yr. old female, PM implanted 6/13. I have been having terrible joint pain, extreme fatigue, itchy skin and head, some hair loss. Went to family doc who tested me for lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, connective tissue diseases, and Vitamin D count. No connective tissue type diseases, thankfully, but I have an extrem...

What's the difference ? Having to have a second operation to successfully correct a botched first one ,I have done a lot of research since then .My first implant was done by a cardiologist not an electrophysiologist !! The shock lead had penetrated the wall of my heart and the operation had to be done a second time ,this time by an electrophysiologist .The second time it was done correctly !! I had much pain because of the first botched operation .Let me tell you that some cardiologists take a...

I'm new to this PM thing (2 weeks) and yesterday we noticed my pm appeared to be slipping out of position. Kinda painful, too. Should I be concerned? BTW, I have a St. Jude PM 2110 dual lead.

I just had a pacemaker put in last week. It was pm with defibrillator. I am having second surgery next week to put in second wire thru the ribs to the outside of left ventricle. They could not attach thru the heart. I am experiencing crippling fear this time. Anyone had this surgery? Coping with the fear?

My 23 yr old son had to get a pacemaker 2 months ago. It was placed under his pec muscle, but continues to give him a considerable amount of pain. He can't jump or run without it feeling like its bouncing around and hurting. Has anyone else who had it implanted under the muscle experienced this? He was a college basketball player and very fit, so this is an issue for him. Would appreciate any feedback that might help us. We have a follow up doctor appointment in a month.

Hello everyone, I have a challenge. I have had my PM now for 13 weeks, and I thought that I was going well.
Now I've noticed over the passed week or so that I have becomes overly sensitive to cellphones, laptops cordless phones any thing you can think possible. I have also been feeling like electric shocks in my fingers. and a burning heavy sensation in my chest. I had the PM checked yesterday and the tech said that it was working well. I have to travel for work soon, and most flights hav...

Could people please comment on their experiences with
getting an "upgrade" to their pacemaker from 2 leads to 3?
I had a 2 lead PM installed in Oct 2013 for 2-1 AV heart block.
I have felt very unhealthy since. 9 months later I finally got some tests. My latest test (nuclear stress test) and echo show that my left ventricle -- previously functioning PERFECTLY -- is now "akinetic" and its injection fraction is reduced by 25%. The "solution" proposed is to now add a 3rd lea...

I have had my pacer since 2005. At first it ruled my life. It took some time to calm down and make the mental adjustment. I had trouble sleeping and I worried a lot about pulling wires. Now I just live my life as I wish.
