Extremely low Vitamin D count and irreg. heartbeat

Hi everyone. I haven't been on for awhile as things were going so good. No asthma issues since March, exercising regularly, but very overweight no matter what I do or eat... I'm a 60 yr. old female, PM implanted 6/13. I have been having terrible joint pain, extreme fatigue, itchy skin and head, some hair loss. Went to family doc who tested me for lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, connective tissue diseases, and Vitamin D count. No connective tissue type diseases, thankfully, but I have an extremely low Vitamin D count (<25.0 - normal range 30.0-100.0). The doc ordered Vitamin D 50,000 IU D2. I'm so afraid to take one (I have to take one, once a week for 10 weeks) because today, on the advice of my doctor, I took a probiotic digestive supplement which made my heartbeat very irregular and missing beats. I also have extremely thin blood (9.4 CRP (Quantitative) - normal range 0.1-3.0) but I am not on a blood thinner. I go to see my cardiologist for that on July 29. I also am being referred to a Hematologist/Oncologist. I feel like I'm headed for trouble only don't know what kind of trouble. Anybody out there have a clue what I'm talking about, because I don't have a clue what any of this means. Am I doing the right things, or does anybody have some advice on what to do differently?
Thanks,
Mojo

Couple of thoughts

Did they also test for lyme disease? Or maybe are you on any statins? Both can have similar symptoms. Statins did a job on me. I tried many kinds and just could not tolerate them, painful joints and fatigue.

As far as the Vitamin D, I have taken the 50,000 IU's a few times now, twice a week for 6 weeks. My Vitamin D test has been 24. The Dr has to give me the 50,000 IU's even though I take a daily supplement. I get a boost from it for a while and then every 9-10 months it hits that low again.

Bringing your Vitamin D up is very important for many organs, especially your heart. You should not have any ill effects from taking it.

Hope you get some answers soon.

Take it

Vitamin D, like all vitamins, doesn't do just one thing in your body. We think about bone health, but it does so much more. Women with adequate vitamin D levels have less breast cancer, for instance. Many organs including the heart need sufficient vitamin D to function well.

I think you might be surprised at how much better you might feel as your vitamin D levels come up. If you take it and your levels don't improve, that in itself will tell the doctor something.

You say your fear of vitamin D was because you had a bad reaction to probiotics, Vitamin D has nothing in common with probiotics. Different animal altogether. There's no way it would have the same effect on your body.

Give your doctor's recommendations a chance.

Hope you feel better soon.

Has absolutely nothing to do with thin blood. Get your provider to explain this test to you.

Vitamin D

by Sue66 - 2014-07-12 03:07:25

Hi mojo: My vitamin D levels were low, and I only take one 1000 mg tablet a day. My Vitamin D Levels have come back up to normal range. I am on a blood thinner, due to a blood clot in my left leg. I think the blood thinner may have saved me from having a stroke when my heart acted up and I needed the pacemaker.
All our bodies are different, and even something as simple as a probiotic could be fine for one person and not for another. I also have Leukemia, and my counts are on the low side. I have to see my Oncologist because now my counts are very low. Let the doctors evaluate each thing to see what is causing all this to be happening. Let us know how your doing

Starting pills`

by donr - 2014-07-13 07:07:29

Mojo: So you had a problem w/ the probiotic. Means nothing as far as the Vit D is concerned.

HOWEVER - when you are prescribed TWO or more new meds at the same time, do NOT pop them both into your mouth on the same day. Start one today & give it a chance to show you what it may or may not do to/for you. After 3-4 days, start the next pill. That will tell you if the first one reacts badly & if the two together cause problems If the two together do, stop the first to find out how the second reacts.

Are you mixing up CRP w/ INR? INR has to do w/ coagulation time "Thin Blood." CRP has to do w/ inflammation in the body, location unknown.

Good luck w/ your search for the problem.

this is starvation. there are safe ways to limit calories while maintaining healthy nutrition. This is not it.
