I had pacemaker surgery about 3 months ago and developed a sort of blister on the end of the scar about a month ago. My PCP saw it about 2 weeks ago and said it was just damaged and not infected. My cardiologist saw it last week and said it would pop on it's own and to keep it dry. It did pop but I forgot to cover it once and it stung really bad when it got wet. I have a prescription for mupirocin which I've been applying but it's leaking a little from the small hole and is very i...

Hi just wondering if anyone has had so many complications following surgery. Went in for a simple box change. When in theatre they tried to change vt lead as running at a high threshold. This was unsuccessful so abandoned. 5 days later developed a pneumothorax, treated with chest drain. Then got dizzy spells, pacemaker check said no problems. GP treated me for silent migraines. Passed out twice eventually diagnosed with failure to capture. New vt lead inserted, which incidentally was not a pr...

Hi. I havent posted in awhile but have a few questions in hope toget a little feedback? I had a 2 lead pacemaker implanted in november 2016 for sss bradicardia and a-fib. I have my 6 month check up coming in late august of this year. My symptoms seem to be coming back like dizziness, confusion, lack of energy. My pacemaker seems to really get set off, expecially the lower lead a lot when I bend over, like to take the clothes out of the washer... Is this a b...

Has anyone ever had a cortisone injection through the back of your shoulder for frozen shoulder? If so, how painful was it. I am guessing a 10. I can't get it through the front because of my pacemaker placement. Thank you

Hi-in a couple of weeks I go back to my new EP and find out if the PM stays or goes. If the pm hasn't paced me in the last month both my EP and cardiologist reccommended extracting it. (If it has to stay then I need surgery anyway as one of my leads isn't in the right place) it seems that my low heart rate was due to the bystolic I took for 7 years. Once I came off that, my heart rate is now in the 70's and I am not being paced at all. What kind of questions should I ask at m...

I had to have my cardio tech look at my incision today to see what was sticking out of my skin. Looked like a gold colored stitch or wire. He said it was okay and will eventually wash off. THEN he came at me with the interrogator disc and I told him I wasn''t there for that. He said it needed to be checked so he did it. Well that same thing happened this time as it did the time before. When I left the hospital my hr went up to over 122+. all the way home, about 45 miles. Not painful a...

Hello,
I'm 20 years old and have a congentical heart block and have had 4 battery changes so far... Recently, I tore the pocket of my functioning pacemaker in the upper left corner of my chest (at least thats what we think) because there is a lot of swelling that won't stay down so we're thinking surgery is the plan.... I'll know more after my next doctor visit in a couple days.
Apart from this, I started noticing discomfort around an old pacemaker that...

Now about 5 weeks out from PM implantation. Shortly after the PM was put in I noticed a lot of unusual rhythm issues. I asked my EP at the Mayo Clinic to PLEASE get me an event monitor so she could see what was going on. I was having runs of Afib and other odd beats coming out of the right atrium (where the lead is currently at on the right side) . My pacemaker was basically shut off for the past couple of weeks once my doctor could see what was going on. I am now going to have to go in...

Well it's almost been 3 months since I got my 1st pacemaker. I have not felt right since I got it so I went to another doctor. He looked over my records and said he would not have suggested a pm and that there are better ways to treat my issues. He turned my pm down to 30 and if all looks good in a month he recommends taking it out. It was put in to treat sick sinus syndrome.
So now I wait to see what happens next. its hard to tell if I feel better with the rate turned down since I...

Hi All, was planning to write a nice 6-wk post op piece to my continuing log, even though things have been a bit 'odd,' but at the appointment with my cardiologist yesterday he became very quiet while fidgeting with the interrogation, replacing wires, etc (saying they were for a different brand pacer)... I knew something was not going well...
He ordered labs, an echo, chest x-ray, a next day appt (today) with the Biotronik tech, prescribed diff...

I'am a 34 yr old who went into a full heart block 7 weeks ago and had Medtronic dual chamber pm installed. I have had numerous problems. I was hospitalized twice within the first week due to severe pain in the middle of my chest. I was also having a lot of dizziness and thankfully with some adjustments it has calmed down quite a bit. I am still having a lot of pain in the center of my chest. I cannot take deep breaths in. If my heart rate rises or beats harder than normal I feel...

I'm 2 weeks into recovery from pacemaker surgery and still getting twinges under left breast. They don't cause pain, just uncomfortable! Last week I was checked at doctor's office. They lowered settings, and even shut one off. Leads are in place. My concern is that I still get these twinges generally with activity. ( going from sitting to standing position, bending over to pick something up, bending over sink to wash hair) What is puzzling i...

In another post a couple days ago, I explained that I have chest and throat pressure since having my PM implanted - which by the way, I never once had BEFORE the PM. I made an appointment to see my cardiologist yesterday, only to go to the office and be told they messed up the appointment and my doctor wasn't even in the building yesterday. The receptionist spoke with the device tech who said to her that my symptoms "can't have anything to do with my PM", wh...

Hi everyone, Just released from ICU after 4 days. A little History, received a Medtronic dual chamber pacer 1 yr ago for SSS/chronotrophic incompetence. Diagnosed with Pots 6 mths ago and placed on corlanor and metoprolol. Started having svts again with minimal exertion. Admitted with atrial flutter, svt's , and episodes of v-tach. The new EP wants me to discontinue the corlanor and go on fludrocortisone which he says is the treatment for pots. This drug seems to have so many side effects...

My cardiologist just told me that this is what he thinks is causing me to have pacemaker syndrome symptoms. Has this happened to anyone else? I got my pm 3/24/17 and since that time I haven't felt like my normal self. My bp is lower than normal, sometimes really low. I get lightheaded every time I bend over. Or even lean into the washing machine to get out laundry. (I'm short.)
now he is suggesting a tilt table test and he said they may be able to adjust the settings durin...

I just left the hospital today they said i was looking great through all the tests and such but im not sure if its the PM working or not but every now and then my heart will take a huge beat and it feels like its beating out of my chest just once like theres combustion inside of it, also ive been...

Hi has anyone had a collapsed lung after pacemaker? There were 2 other people in my ward with collapsed lung after having a similar procedure and they had all been done at the same hospital. Does this seem excessive as I thought it was a low percentage complication.

I am just grateful to God that I lived long enough to have my ICD put in. So many people are not as lucky as us; even though we sometimes don't feel lucky.
