10 Days Mucus Continues

I posted about leaving hospital after PM sneezing and dripping mucus. 10 days later my nose is still running but to a much lessor degree and I have post nasal drip. All this even after seeing my GP twice. First time she prescribed ProAir and second time I got a steroid shot. Both seem to help a bit but the symptoms persist.
Anyone else having similar issues?
Tomorrow I see my cardio. I hate to say it, but I have little confidence he will address the PND and mucus problem.

Recovery Time

I had my PM surgery on 7/24. I was told it was an outpatient procedure. I assumed then recovery would be quick.
Tomorrow will be a week post op. My PM implant site looks normal and I still have some discomfort but it is not bad. In some ways I feel better but not completely. The worst for me has been this nagging lung congestion and trying to cough up stubborn mucus.
I was wondering how others are getting on with their recovery and when they expect to be fully recovered.

Alot harder that I thought

I am 28 and have sick sinus syndrome, was admitted for a pacemaker on the 16th July. Everything went well. the most pain i had was the initial cut site and the excruciating shoulder and back pain from not being able to rest on my sides or stomach.
The first week of recovery was a bit hard, i was blessed to have my mother with me to help me bath and get dressed and make food for me while i was recovering. Bed rest is key here. The second week I had to go back to work and it was difficult, I...

Pacemaker feels heavy

I had a PPM pacemaker Mediotronic MRI Sure Scan (Dual lead pacer) inserted two weeks ago as I had been experiencing low heart rate (as low as 22). I am 59 years old, height 5 feet 11 inches and weigh about 164 lbs. The place where the pacemaker was inserted feels heavy and the incision point feels slightly sore especially after walks. Otherwise I feel much better - no more tiredness like before, dizziness, presynoscope and breathlessness. At times I have pain in the back between the shoulder bla...

tenderness

I had my pacemaker implanted on July 10, 2015. I did not have my followup until July 20, so other than changing the dressing, I did not shower until then. The steri-strips took a while to come off, but they finally did about two nights ago. I have never had any discharge or any problem whatever, but the area of the wound and surrounding is still very tender to touch.

Does this sound normal? I was wondering if the large amount of time the wound was covered (initially by the steri-s...

How Long Does it Take to Recover from an Ablation?

Hi,

I have a dual-lead pacemaker and was told I'd be back to work in a week. I quickly learned that no one in the surgeon's office has one, because a week would've been crazy. So, I'm asking those of you who've had an ablation, what is a realistic recovery time? The doctor's office is telling me I can be back to work in three days. I have Tachy/Brady (Sick Sinus Syndrome), so I'm having an ablation to fix the "tachy" part. I teach and need to be on my feet most of the day....

Sneezing & PND After Surgery

On the 24th I had a PM implanted. So far no issues with the implant and the discomfort is what I expected. The worst part is that upon waking up in my room I began uncontrolled sneezing and massive amounts of mucus in my nose that came out the front as well as the back. I swallowed a large amount of the stuff and I think some went into my lungs. I asked to see a doctor but none ever came. I was told, "they're all busy saving lives." I was discharged the following day and thought I could ta...

Removing bandages

Hi everyone,
It has been exactly since I had surgery and even though I was allowed to take the big bandage off after two days, I am not sure how to remove my strips covering my incision. One of my leads fractured so they went in and added a new lead along with a new device. This is my fourth pacemaker and I cannot remember ever having this many strips on my incision site. My doctor said he removed deep scar tissue and said he was going to tidy up my scar some. This makes it hurt longe...

epicardial ablation via right mini-thoracotomy

Hello all, I am new here and was kinda looking for a little advice on what to expect after my ablation. The correct term is "epicardial ablation via right mini-thoracotomy " this will be my first epicardial procedure. I have had 3 endocardial ablations prior. I have tried looking up info but am not finding much info on it. Anyone here that can help me with info on waking up through the recovery peroid would be greatly appreciated :)

Limitations

hello all, I had my PM surgery on June 3rd and was wondering how long, generally speaking, is a safe amount of time to wait before it's safe to raise your arm higher than shoulder level after the surgery. Thanks!

Recovery time/suggestions?

Had pacemaker implanted 6/10/15. Got it for heart pauses and bradycardia. Fortunately no fainting or emergencies. I was on a monitor for palpitations when they noticed that my heart paused for 3+ seconds 6 times one day. I'm 58 and not on any heart meds. PM just paces when my heart rate gets lower than 60 bpm daytime and 50 bpm nighttime. My resting HR before pacemaker was 54. Originally it was pacing all night and it was hard to sleep.

After surgery I was off work for 2 1/2 weeks the...

No Information

I went to the ER June 24th because of fainting and palpitations. I received my pacemaker June 26th and released from the hospital the 27th. I had to ask for a pamphlet before my surgery. I was released with out any information on what kind I received other than it is St. Jude. I went to the surgeons office July2ed. The nurse removed the bandage, said it looked good and I could take a regular shower, vacuum and do everything I did before except lift 5 lbs. I saw my cardiologist the 7th and he to...

welcome to myself

Well, less than 48 hours ago I had my pacemaker put in, and probably less than 72 hours ago I went to the ER with a pulse rate of 20.

So now I have entered, it seems, a new chapter of my life.

I hope to be able to ask questions here and learn from the other "members of the club".

I live in Florida, and my *event* happened while I was on vacation in Rhode Island. Fortunately, my wife was with me and able to take good care of me.

I had a severe headache...

Palpitations & Internal Pain

Hi all, got a St Jude 2 lead pm inserted on Tuesday. Overall I'm feeling good aside from the natural pain. I do get occasional palpitations up to about 125 bpm. I spoke to my cardiologist yesterday and he took an ekg which came out fine. He said to not miss my f/u with EP on Wed so she can consult the pm and determine the reason for the palpitations. She'll then be able to make any adjustment to the pm.

Today also I'm feeling quick pains that seem to come from the and also shoo...

It's Done

So I had the PM implanted yesterday and was kept overnight for observation which is hospital policy for 1st time implants.

During the surgery I felt like I was in the twilight zone. I kept telling the PM the I wanted her to do it and not a student she had with her. She kept reassuring me she was doing it while explaining it to him. She laughed about it later when she came by post-op. They placed a pressure bandage overnight to control swelling, it was quite uncomfortable but it...

healing process

Hello dear friends, I am member from Mongolia. My mother (55 years old) just got PM Zephyr XL DR a week ago. Surgery went well. She is now recovering and trying to cope with the PM. I understand now we have to change our lifestyle a little bit. And I am looking for advices. First of all what should we take in concern and how long lasts the healing process? Is there certain foods we should avoid?
Now we are not leaving her alone by herself, does it helps or we are making things worse by mak...

attention donr

I am heading for a big toe surgery in 2 weeks and just read your comments in a 2012 post about knee surgery. You also advised me on a surgery last summer in which they used electrocautery very successfully with a ground plate on my opposite thigh and did not put a magnet over my pacemaker. I was not 100% dependent and my 31 beats per minute during the small zaps of their instruments ( and 60 beats at the rest of the time) was a heck of a lot better for me than 3 1/2 hour under the knife at 100...

Pacemaker ten days ago

Ten days ago had PM fitted, second week felt really good, but on Friday had to call paramedics and ambulance and ended back in hospital, I had similar as before racing heart and pulse of 158 and felt like tight strap round chest, after blood tests and further blood tests ruled out heart attack, said it could be ischemia rate related, put me on 2.5 beta blocker and gave antibiotics as thought I might have an infection, yesterday had similar but no heart pain, just asking if anyone had similar sym...

Help

When to worry? My wound looks awful....redness spreading down into breast and for couple inches all the way around. No fever....wondering if reacting to the adhesive? Anyone sensitive to the adhesive closure? Just called the cardio floor at hospital and they said go to ER no later than morning if still like that. This is what I have been afraid of all along. Anyone else react like this? Thanks for replies. Hopefully soon you won't have to see posts from me!
