I had my PM surgery on 7/24. I was told it was an outpatient procedure. I assumed then recovery would be quick.
Tomorrow will be a week post op. My PM implant site looks normal and I still have some discomfort but it is not bad. In some ways I feel better but not completely. The worst for me has been this nagging lung congestion and trying to cough up stubborn mucus.
I was wondering how others are getting on with their recovery and when they expect to be fully recovered.

Met With GP

Met with my GP this morning. She gave me a steroid shot in the butt. I think it was Kenalog or something like that. I don't think she knows what caused my reaction.
Thanks to all for your posts.
busrider,
I feel like the mucus is deep in my lungs and is very difficult to expel. My abdominal muscles tire to the point where I can no longer cough and still the mucus remains. Then for some unknown reason a mucus plug will come up and I can spit it out. This is especially bad when I try to sleep and being sleep deprived just makes everything worse.

A nurse at BCBS told me the same thing and most likely that is what caused my reaction.

Sorry to read about your difficult recovery. What does your doctor say about it? I hope things start going better for you.
Still Recovering

I had my PM surgery on 7/8 and I'm still recovering. Three days in the hospital and lots of inflammation. I still have swelling and bruising under my arm and it is very painful to raise my arm above chest level. I'm beyond frustrated.
It sounds like except for your congestion issues you're doing well. I hope you continue to heal.
good for you!

Donsabi, so glad you saw your GP. Let's hope the injection will do the trick.
I, too, have BCBS and have found their nurses to be practical and smart. Thanks for the reminder!

I had my ICD implanted 8/22 spent night in hosp. 2 days after surgery started taking dog for walks started driving again today went grocery shopping with wife this evening. Don't know when I can start playing golf again lol. Thinking the more active I am the faster recovery time.

i seem to get hot faster then before PM?
Still feel a little "off"
And I get tired way faster... Seems like I am finding myself
In bed more just relaxing....?
But I feel much better then The day I had my heart block condition that sent me to the ER.
You know you're wired when...
A thirty-day guarantee is not good enough.

At age 20, I will be getting a pacemaker in few weeks along with an SA node ablation. This opportunity may change a five year prognosis into a normal life span! I look forward to being a little old lady with a wicked cane!
give it time

Looking back on my recovery (implant 3/17) I realize that I felt better and better as time passed. A week post-implant, I was still tender, tentative and experiencing odd little symptoms. From what other PM Clubbers have reported here, I am thinking your congestion is a consequence of surgery. It is not uncommon after receiving anesthesia of any kind.
Hang in there, report your symptoms to your doc, and keep reading.
