welcome to myself

Well, less than 48 hours ago I had my pacemaker put in, and probably less than 72 hours ago I went to the ER with a pulse rate of 20.

So now I have entered, it seems, a new chapter of my life.

I hope to be able to ask questions here and learn from the other "members of the club".

I live in Florida, and my *event* happened while I was on vacation in Rhode Island. Fortunately, my wife was with me and able to take good care of me.

I had a severe headache last night at the hospital, and as my BP was pretty high, they put me on lisinoprol. The headaches have continued, but to a lesser extent. If I did not have that, I would say I feel pretty good, other than a little beat-up overall from the procedure.

I have never really had high BP before (I am 59 and in pretty good overall health, including my heart other than my blockage), and do *not* want to stay on the lisinopril.

Has anyone else had this "short term" high BP, and were you able to get off of meds?

Thanks,

Mitch

I have been on lisinopril and atenolol with no side effects for over 10 years. My BP is well controlled. Good for your heart and overall body according to what doctors say and my independent research. I am not sure why you are adverse to taking lisinopril unless your BP is in the normal range. Give it some time and see what happens. Glad you were able to get your PM in a timely fashion..

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I am not averse to BP med if it is truly needed...[my pre-procedure BP was in the normal range]. I am just hoping that my spike was some side effect of either the procedure or the meds I was given. I would just rather not take *any* meds if not absolutely necessary.
