I've got to have it done.

After 10 years of on and off A-fib, 2 ablations and several cardioversions, I am scheduled for my third ablation in October and the following day a pacemaker. How long will it be before I can start to get active again after 10 years of mostly feeling like crap? I use to be active but get tired and out of breath all the time now, will a lot of this be gone? Any and all info will be helpful.

No fib! Got shocked biking...

I’m an experienced cyclist, small town. 75% errands in traffic, 25% edge of town.

I’ve had an ICD for 3 months. I put about 1,000 miles on my Trek between the install and when I got defibbed while on the bike.

I thought I’d found my “sweet spot” balancing mild exertion while staying below the “shock bar.” I haven’t been back to the cardiologist yet for my post op consult.I’m wondering if there’s any correlation between a reasonably induced exercise (sinu...

st jude not responding

I have a St Jude PM 2240. low setting 50bpm, high setting 130.
When cycling (MTB) I'm killing myself to hit 120bpm, but an easy jog on foot will hit 125-130 no problem. Even sit ups drive it to 120. Love to cycle, but can't really run because of joints. What can be done to adjust this unit? I am 65.

Running performance with 3rd degree heartblock

Hi fellow Pacemakers,
New to the group and my first post. I was diagnosed with 2nd degree AV Mobitz II characterized by an unexpected nonconducted atrial impulse, bradycardia, afib, sinus node dysfunction and Right Bundle Branch block. I was before diagnosis an avid runner with an avg. pace of 8 minute miles. Now, I struggle to achieve 12 minute miles. My doc has performed stress test with treadmill and was not able to determine any significant issues, however with the biotronik PM, the...

Kayaking

I recently had a Pacemaker implanted (3 weeks ago) and want to return to kayaking. I am not a white water kayaker but I kayak in a 17 ft. touring kayak. I kayak mainly to view marine life and kayak in a casual manner.
I know that my cardiologist is concerned about free style swimming because of shoulder rotation.
What experience have any of pacemaker members had with kayaking has I have describe it.
Thanks

PM settings on tread mill

Has anybody in the Uk had their PM set up properly on a treadmill ? If so where was it done and did it prove successful?
I seem to be banging my head against a wall in trying to get this done on the NHS.
If any of you guys in the states could say what I should expect as I want to exercise ( It takes a big effort to get my HR up to 90BPM) as I feel ok but just think something is not correct .
I`ve always been fit and active .
My device was fitted after valve surgery as I had a...

Exercising to Pacemaker Max

I am 43 years old, and was a pretty active individual, before an unexplained case of heart block forced me to get a pacemaker just over 3 weeks ago. I had in fact been training for several months for a 1/2 marathon, before the onslaught of the heart block. My doctor has released me to slowly start running again, but recommended I get a HRM, which I thankfully found a recommendation for on this site. I use my PM 100% of the time. My Dr warned me that my PM maxs out at 140, and if pushed beyond th...

Garmin Forerunner 110

Hi!

So, since my Polar FT7 only shows the heart rate, time and burned calories, I got myself a Garmin Forerunner 110, which has GPS. It can therefore provide information on pace and distance in addition to heart rate etc. Went for my first 5km run this morning, and found out that it does show a heart rate, but most of the time this heart rate is inaccurate. Polar FT7 and pacemaker report showed that my heart rate is always around 160ppm when I run. Now, the Garmin shows anything from...

Running issues

Looking for advise on running issues with my pm. I am 54 yrs old and have severe bradycardia and am paced 100% of the time. My pm is a Medtronic that uses only a accelerometer. When running off road trails my heart rate goes to 145 the max setting and stays there uphill, downhill and on the flats. Has anyone else had this issue and what might a solution be?

Thanks,

Tim

Beta Blockers & Calorie Burn?

Hi, so I am on beta blockers for my condition (SVT), and have gotten back into a good regimen of running, believe it or not. Doc gave me the go ahead, just no more competing, which is ok by me! I also have an ICD. Anyways, here is a question, since my heart rate is somewhat lower during my running and exercise when I am on beta blockers, Am I burning less calories when I run 4 miles on beta blocker than I would if not taking beta blockers? Just curious if anyone knows?

Help with settings

Hi
Implanted with Medtronic Adapta 2 years ago because, although my A/F was fairly infrequent, coming out of A/F back to sinus was causing long pauses. Always had a low pulse, low 50s resting. More A/F since PM, plus more PACs and PVCs. On beta blockers. 65 years old and fit and have now traded intensive gym classes and now do more swimming and hiking. Have done the Camino de Santiago for the last 3 years ( 500 miles with pack over 32 days ). Always feel better during the walk. Planning o...
