I recently had a Pacemaker implanted (3 weeks ago) and want to return to kayaking. I am not a white water kayaker but I kayak in a 17 ft. touring kayak. I kayak mainly to view marine life and kayak in a casual manner.
I know that my cardiologist is concerned about free style swimming because of shoulder rotation.
What experience have any of pacemaker members had with kayaking has I have describe it.
Thanks

I recently sent in an question regarding Kayaking after a Pacemaker placement and I promptly received two responses thanks to all. All goes well and I am completing 3 weeks of rest. In one more week I go to the Doctor for review.

Clarify with your dr but recreational swimming and kayaking both should be fine. If you were on a team and practiced hours a day it could become an issue, but casually doing either one should not cause any problems. I kayak every chance I get. I also swim, hike, ski, lift with barbells and kettlebells, use a rower, ran an adventure race and done treetop courses. I wasn't given any restrictions and have never held back. Twenty years and no issues.
