Hi. I'm Susan. I just got my pacemaker five days ago.I had Rhematic Fever when I was 10 years old and was aware that there was some scarring in my heart and that if could cause me some trouble as I aged. I tried not to think about that much and essentially lived my life as if there was no potential probles associated with this. I partied (not too much), worked. got married, had three kids, worked some more, got my black belt in Taekwondo, started a business (which I still run), had m...

You'd think by now, some ICD device maker would use this video in their advertising. Guess Mick wants too much $$$!

So I just received my seventh pacemaker, and was curious as to if there was anyone that lived with a pacemaker as long as I have. Was surprised to find this club and see so many people like me. Still looking for who has lived with pacemaker longer than 45. But then again I'm only reaching people in this club. How is there not information out there that covers things like this?

I read somewhere that if one loses too much weight, the PM can fall out of its "pocket." Is this true? I've lost 30 pounds, and am planning to lose more (hoping). I could stand to lose 30-50 more pounds (and I'll still be heavy after that, but I don't want to go too low). I've been making my docs happy, but they didn't mention this potential problem!
Just to elaborate: losing a lot of weight takes hard work, focus, and determination--something I...

Have pm 2 days and have spasms while in certain positions in bed or in a chair. They go away when I change positions. Feel like someone inside poking me. Should I inform my physician immediately or at my two week checkup?

Hi
I just got a micra pacemaker and couldn't find any recent posts on this type of PM. I had it fitted as an emergency 2 weeks ago after a 13 second sinus-node arrest made me collapse. I was asymptomatic before the collapse episode but with family history of heart problems. They only found the cause of the collapse as I'd had an implanted loop recorder inserted 2 weeks prior and they were able to interrogate the device and look at the data. All ECGs, holter, blood tes...

Thought I'd share my experience on this journey.
I'm 66+ very active never took more than an occasional aspirin until I was 65 and then was diagnosed with stage 3 CKD. Bummer... Anyway because of my general good health my nephrologist convinced me to relax. The only change in my life at that time was now taking 12.5 mg of Hydrochlorothiazide every day. The initial dosage of 25 mg caused me to get light headed and faint often so he cut the dosage in half. (There will be a call ba...

So while I was working the other day painting a house for a friend I went to move the outlet out of the way when I felt an electrical shock in my hand. Could this have harmed my pacemaker?? It definitely scared me but I’m ok now that I know of just want to make sure this didn’t harm my PM

Hey everyone! So lately I've been wondering a lot about possible implant locations. Right now mine is under my left pectoral muscle and I wanted to know about other possible locations. Honestly the location isn't much of a problem except for a few things:
1. I'm a very small girl (5'1 and 105 lb) so it's pretty noticeable. This isn't much of a problem honestly, I've gotten used to it, but it must be nice not having to explain to people what the bulge on m...

Hi All,
I had my PM fitted nearly three years ago, blacked out momentarily a few times over 3 days. When I was taken into hospital I spent the first day in resuscitation ward. During the two weeks or so I was in hospital, no reason could be found as to what had happened to me. I was a fit 47 year old. On admission, the consultant immediately took me off my prescribed blood pressure tablets and commented that they probably caused my problem.&...

Hi All,
i have had my pacemaker for 13 years, my battery was changed 5 years ago.
Over the last few weeks I have been experiencing pain around the Pacemaker area. The pain comes & goes.
i do have my annual check up in 2 weeks, so will obviously mention it to the cardiac nurse. Has anyone else had pain around the area?
Just curious.
Thanks in advance
Julie
