Years of Service

So I just received my seventh pacemaker, and was curious as to if there was anyone that lived with a pacemaker as long as I have. Was surprised to find this club and see so many people like me. Still looking for who has lived with pacemaker longer than 45. But then again I'm only reaching people in this club. How is there not information out there that covers things like this?

I don't think you are alone...

Hi: I'm a newbie here - about nine weeks post first PM.

But I think that there are some active members who can at least claim to be in the same order of timescale for living with a PM.

You may even have had a Pu-powered unit as your first - if I understand correctly the power supply unit for those never failed, but it might well have been replaced for any number of reasons!

Great to hear that you're still plugging along!

All the best.

welcome!

I think you might be the longest here. There are a half dozen or so like me at 25 years. Gellia is around 35 years, I believe, long enough to have had one of the first two lead pacers. We've had one or two visit but not become regulars who have had one longer but I don't recall anyone over 40.

49 years and going

My first pacemaker was February 9, 1970. I was 10 months old. I am currently on number 13. I always wondered if there was anyone else out there who have had a pacemaker longer than me.

I wasn't really self-conscious about it. I didn't even know I had one until around six or seven years old. I just thought I had a rock in my side.
