Electric Car

Thinking of getting a Tesla Model 3 electric car, have done some research and it seems ok for pacemaker but still curious who out there is driving one and any feedback regarding Superchargers or the new powerful V3 charger? Any magnetic field interference?

pacemaker too low

Hi!  I have a female issue with my pacemaker.  Had it implanted in Feb. of 2017.  Over the months since, it has dropped a bit and is very close to my breast tissue.  My NP has said that it IS a bit lower than usual and that I can have it adjusted, but that means another surgery. I have large breasts, and I think that their weight has played a part in this.  My surgeon didn't take that into consideration, or he would have put the device much higher up. I...

Feeling fatigued

Does anyone here also feel like since having their PM fitted, their energy levels are not the same as before surgery? It's been 2 years for me this August since having my PM fitted for vasovagal syncope, and I just flat out feel fatigued easier than before. I still have good days with energy but overall... blah.

End of Life

I have had cardiomyopathy w/severely low EF for 18 years. I am on my second pacemaker. (1st one only lasted 5 yrs). My Cardio recently told me all I have left to do is a mechanical heart or a dobutamine drip w/a port. I would like to know what the 'end of the road' will be like. I would like to avoid the 2 options I have been given.  I imagine I'll feel like I'm drowning at some point. Anybody out there on one of these options & what is it like?  I was told this...

Both Stents and Pacemaker

Hi, does anyone know if a stent/s can be inserted in veins other

than those used by an already implanted Pacemaker?

And if so, is the groin artery used instead of the wrist for these stents

Thanks

High Blood Pressure After Pacermaker Surgery

Hello all, my mom had a pacemaker put in a week ago and she started having high blood pressure before the surgery which she takes lisinopril (10mg) for.  When she was first diagnosted with HBP, she ended up in the emergency room, as she felt like she was going to faint.  Much to our surprise, the ER did nothing to treat and basically told us they don't "chase" HBP. She has now seen two different cardiogists, which ended up in her taking the lisinopril an...

Ablation v Watchman as a cure for A/Fib and A/Flutter.

Hi

I had a pacemaker fitted in Juine last year due to my heartbeat going down to 29 at times. The procedure has been a success, however I am still getting A/Fib and Flutter and my original consultant wanted to do an Ablation. He had a problem in that he wanted to give me anti-coagulents but was not able to until my platelet count could be lifted from a current 30ish to 50+. My Haematologist was not keen to play ball so I reached an enpasse. In order to try to break the empasse I mo...

Used Dual Lead Pacemaker

I had a dual lead Biotronik pacemaker installed in May of 2018 but had to have it replaced with a CRT-P last Friday due to pacing dyssynchrony causing a lowered ejection fraction. The EP gave me the old Biotronik after surgery and it has to have at least 8 -10 yrs of good battery life.

Are there any legit avenues to donate something like this to someone needing a pacemaker who doesn't have insurance or the financial means to afford?  I guess I could keep it as a souvenir and ma...

How often do you see a cardiologist?

I have not seen a cardiologist since 2014...and I got my PM in 2013.

I see the tech to check on the pacemaker every 6 months.

Should I be alarmed? Should I make an apt for the Dr if I have no specific complaint?

I wonder about the "plumbing" issues (potential) as well as the "electric" part which is checked 2x/year?

WHat do YOU do?

thanks!

Running in stress

Hi All,

Had a pace maker fitter in Oct 2017 as my heart rate was dropping to 33. Thought I was really fit! However after I had it fitted I had problems with running comfortably, it felt as if I was running with a plastic bag over my head. The pacemaker dept did a considerable amount of tweaking until I was able to run within my own fit constraints. The pace maker is set to kick in at 50 BPM however with  top cover at 150. However recently it feels as if I am back to square one with...

Root Canal Post Pacemaker installation

Dear All,

My dad a pacemaker implanted in September last year and he is doing OK with it. In recent days he was having a toothache and he had to see a doctor. The doctor has suggested root canal but has asked for a written confirmation from the Heart Dr. Looking into all these we are a bit tensed that should we go ahead and do it or look for any other option. My dad is 61 now.

Thanks,

Dalbir Singh

Annual or whatever term average pacemaker cost?

Greetings!

I have what I thought was a simple question and have come up empty when searchng for an answer. Any help anyone can give is greatly appreciatted!

I live in Michigan, USA.

I would like to get ideas of the average annual cost of having a pacemaker over a 25-35 year period. Or the total cost over that timeframe. This would be for bradycardia. Basically what would it cost for a pacemaker and anything associated with it (no complications) over a 25-35 year period, per...

Heartbreating sensation at generator site

Pacemaker Denied - 3rd Degree AV Block

Hi all, I’m new here and apologies if this has been discussed.  I tried to search and was only able to find one relevant post.

About a month ago I wore an event monitor which picked up 4 instances of complete heart block.  I was rushed into EP after the report was prepared and insurance has had this claim for almost 3 weeks.  I just found out today that Aetna has denied my pacemaker surgery which was supposed to take place on Thursday as “ele...

Recovery

Has anyone out there experienced night sweats occasionally since pacemaker procedure? I had this happen to me twice. One being last night. I woke up at around 3am soaked in sweat.

I am post menopausal having a hysterectomy 5 years ago, so it's not hormonal.

When I called my cardiologist/electrophysiologist, his nurse practitioner said she had never heard of night sweats post pacemaker procedure.

She thinks I must have a "bug" and ran a fever and it broke. I don...
