Going on vacation... monitor?

Hi!  I've had my pacemaker/defib for 6 months now.... feeling great!  I've got a "newbie" question....I'm going on a short vacation next week.  (my first since receiving my pacer)  I have the Medtronic Home Monitor.... do I take that with me?   Do I just unplug it and take it with me on my carryon... or do I need to contact Medtronic or anything.  Thank you...

I never take it with me when I go away.

Check with your doc but I have never taken it with me when we have gone away for extended periods. I’m on a monthly remote schedule and on the few occasions I was out of range they contacted me and I did a manual upload for them when I got back.

I was told to not bring it on vacation. The theory was that it's not an anchor and that if I go into trouble, pretty much any hospital and even a large number of EMTs could handle it. Unless you're constantly monitored or have been told otherwise, I wouldn't take it. If you're still undecided, call your EP and ask.

leave it at home

I was told to take it if I'd be gone more than 3 months. If you are scheduled for a download while away the system will try again or if you think about it you can reschedule it for when you are home. I don't even know when mine are and I don't worry about it.

Thank you!!!!!

I have a well tuned pacer. I hardly know I have it. I am 76 year old, hike and camp alone in the desert. I have more energy than I have had in a long time. The only problem is my wife wants to have a knob installed so she can turn the pacer down.
