Is there a way to get your device removed?
I got my device implanted in 2010. And my second in 2015. I have had a variety of complications since 2010, and worsening symptoms. I was put on a metoprolol in 2015 as well because the symptoms were getting worse and worse.
It is now 2018 and due to insurance my cardiologist has changed. My new cardiologist ran a variety of tests - because my symptoms were once again getting worse - and as of today told me I can stop all of t...

Had emergency surgery to replace my icd in Nov 2017 due to finding a short in my old one. Almost 6 months later and I still have a lot of pain in my peck area around were the leads are and pain that shoots down my left arm. I've been back to the surgeon who did the operation multiple times and he was more worried about the area being infected rather then deal with the issue of pain. He told me that different people handle pain in different ways and it just need...

Hello it is Ralph again. I hope you dont get sick of me. I thank you for all the sound advice and comments from all of you so far. After my pacemaker implant last week and a trip to the ER on Saturday I had some more episodes this morning. For the first time in my life I didn't panic when my heart felt like it was beating out of my chest. I sent a report via my monitor to my EP whom I see today at 1pm. I think for once I was able to determine on my own that the phrenic nerve/daiaphram is...

Hi all, 4+ years and no problems, happy with my little friend, doing his job on the background. That was until last Wednesday when I walked my dog, she took off after a rabbit, I gave chase and ran plumb into a tree branch, right on the suture site. ( I have a very wide scar,) small laceration a few millimetres and a bit of twig stuck in it. Pulled it out and cracked on, didn’t think anything of it, had tears in the scar before and they always healed no dramas...

Hi club
I had a permanent pacemaker fitted 4 days ago because after wearino a monitor it showed I was having pauses in my rhythm of 4.2 seconds. The pacemaker was fitted to make my heart beat during these pauses.
I have still been having palpitations thoughost and was wondering if this is normal so soon after the implant. Or should I be concerned.
Thanks in advance. I am from the UK.

Hi All - new here. I had a Medtronic, 2 lead, rate-responsive pacemaker installed in 2013 due to 3rd degree A-V heart block. The SA node was failing to send the electrical impulse adequately while exerting myself during exercise. I was dramatically out of breath very quickly from minimal exertion. A flight of stairs did me in. Prior to this I was very active and fit - cycling, ultimate frisbee, etc. The PM solved the problem initially and was able to ex...

My husband developed edema three weeks following pacemaker surgery. He was perscribed a diuretic by his PCP. At the six week checkup for the pacemaker, the edema was still obvious, even after being treated for three weeks. The cardiac PA made light of the situation and said to stay the course of the medication he was on, even though he only had one week left on the perscription. Three days later, my husband passed away from venticular tachycardia. I am looking fo...

I have had my pacemaker since april of 2014. I have always had minor pain and the occasional itching around the place it sits, but recently I have been having more sharp and sudden pain spikes. Some range from a second or so and are bearable, others last a few seconds and feel like a hammer to the chest. My left arm has been aching more and more lately, so here I am to ask and see if others have experienced anything like this. The pain isn't stimulated by physical...

Last night I started getting a sharp pain in the incisional area of the pacemaker. The wound itself was badly closed with skin inversion (overlapping) so now it's terribly tender and I am unable to wear anything heavy on it. Even my light duvet causes pain. That's been ongoing for a few weeks but since last night there is now pain over the entire surgical area including the incision, the exploratory area where the atrery was accessed to insert the electrode and even the 'pocket...

Hello,
My grandpa is 74 years old and he got his PM 6 years ago and he felt great. His pulse was between 60 and 80 BPM and he drank beta blockers so that his pulse rate doesn't go above 80 BPM. A month and a half ago, he had his checkup where the doctor reprogramed his PM. After that, his pulse rate is always between 60 and 65 BPM regardless if he is taking a walk or relaxing at home, during his checkup the battery didn't show that it is at the end of its power. And the oth...

hi all, had my second pacemaker fitted in 2002 had loads of infections. Was tested for allergys but I'm not allergic to any components in the pacemaker. So they fitted another pacemaker in 2013. Had loads of infections In this one just found out that I still have the same infection that I had in 2002. Now I need the pacemaker and all the leads removing. 16 years of infections got to be a world record in a pacemaker and I'm still alive. Sorry for my shout out. Keep you i...

I had my CRT-D implanted on Wed. They said to wait 2 days before taking a shower. Not only did I wait until Saturday afternoon for the first shower, I also put plastic over the incision area and taped it up well. Within 2 minutes of taking my shower I had what can only be described as an explosion occur. Popping sound, white light, electric charge going through my body. After calming down I called my doctor who said it happens and since I was not showing an...

Can anyone tell me what it feels like to have their lead torn off or in the wrong position?
I had a pace maker maker put in March 5 2018. I’ve experienced chest pain ever since. Been to the hospital twice and they compared the chest X-rays and the finding was the atrial lead wire shows a change in orientation and may no longer be properly positioned which could affect pacemaker function. I couldn’t figure out why people on this forum were so good aft...

I had surgery 3 days ago and since I got the pacemaker I have had a spike in my blood pressure, I am on medication for high blood pressure but the numbers have gotten very high, is this normal and will it adjust in time. I was under the impression that it would lower it. Has anyone else experienced this. I also have shoulder pain.

Hi all. I have a dual chamber Pm, Medtronic now for just over a yr and half. Recently discovered that my ventricle is pacing aswell. So have had alot of settings done recently to accommodate me to feel better daily, which I am struggling with. What does it mean long term for me, as i had signs of Pacemaker syndrome. Also i am struggling daily with constant headaches. I wake up with one and it doesn't go away. It is not getting better either. Couldvit be my heart causing it...
