Hi club
I had a permanent pacemaker fitted 4 days ago because after wearino a monitor it showed I was having pauses in my rhythm of 4.2 seconds. The pacemaker was fitted to make my heart beat during these pauses.
I have still been having palpitations thoughost and was wondering if this is normal so soon after the implant. Or should I be concerned.
Thanks in advance. I am from the UK.

Like clouds, palpitations happen

Whether they feel it or not, everybody has a little bumpiness in their heart beat from time to time. It's normal.
It's also normal if you have a pacemaker. And it's normal to be more aware of what your heart is doing after you get a pacemaker. While your heart is adjusting to being paced it's possible that you could have more palpitations. In any case, palpitations are not a sign something is wrong and there's no need for concern.
Whenever I have a Holter monitor test, I learn that I have lots of PVCS that I do feel and a lot that I don't. I find that although nothing eliminates palpitations altogether, getting enough sleep, avoiding caffiene, staying hydrated keep them to a minimum.
For me palpitations are like the clouds. They come and they go. I don't allow whether they come or go to affect my peace of mind.

Welcome to the club, Debedah.
I'm really not sure if it is normal or if you should be concerned but, perhaps you are just very conscious of your heartbeat right now. From the day I got the call telling me that my ILR picked up a significant pause and needed to come in and discuss a pacemaker through the first few weeks post implant, I was intently focused on my heartbeat. I would actually lie awake in bed thinking - "Is that a fast heartbeat? Is that a slow heartbeat? Is that my own heartbeat or is it the pacemaker? Did it just skip a beat?". For me, it was all in my crazy little head and, thankfully, that anxiety has slowly subsided.
