His-Bundle Pacing

I am interested in patient/doctor/nurse experiences related to "His-Bundle Pacing" in which a single lead is directly connected to the nerve bundle that normally handles pacing of the heart.  There is an experiemental study in L.A. and I am getting ready to join it.  So far, I am convinced that His-Bundle Pacing offers many, genuine benefits if one needs to have a pacemaker.

Is there anyone out there who could weigh in on this?

New EP

Hello,

My pediatric EP of 20 years is retiring and I’m being transferred to a new doctor in the adult device clinic.  I have my pacemaker due to CCHB and am still using the original leads, with one in unipolar mode due to a small fracture that happened a few months ago.  My pediatric EP’s philosophy about lead replacement is to cap off the old leads and put new leads in.  The new EP specializes in lead extraction.  I’m meeting him for the first...

IV Therapy

I got my PM on January 7, 2019. I’m wondering if it’s ok to get IV vitamin therapy tomorrow (3 weeks post PM)? I’ve been feeling dehydrated and want to get the basic IV (Meyers cocktail) added with gluthione. Feel like after all the blood work and xrays ive had the last few works could do with some IV vitamins, minerals and gluthione. Any thoughts would be most welcome. :)

declining pacemaker

Thank you to the people who responded to my question about whether declining a pacemaker would lead to a pleasant quiet death.  One person warned me about driving, and I want to assure him that my vision is now too poor to drive, so I don't own a car.

It seems that the pacemaker makes life better, but doesn't necessarily extend lifespan.  I'm on the hospital waiting list at present, so I have time to think about what to do.  Thanks again - it&...

declining pacemaker

I had triple bypass 2006, atrial fibrillation since then, prolonged QT, now very slow heart rate at times, and pacemaker advised.  I want to know this: if I decline the pacemaker, would I probebly die quietly either in my sleep or at some other time, perhaps suddenly.  I'm 78, life is difficult, I'd be quite happy to die.  Does anyone know the answer to this question, please

Moving a pacemaker

I have had my pacemaker since October 2018. I have had increasing swelling of my left arm since the surgery. I initially though it was caused because I had breast cancer and lymph nodes removed 20 years ago. But it is because the PM lead is causing an obstruction in a vein. I had a vascular surgeon attempt to  increase the flow using a balloon procedure. This did not help. One option I have is to move the pacemaker to the right side. I would welcome any advice on the subject.

Pain Along Side of Left Breast post ICD

I just had my first ICD implanted almost a week ago and have down along the left side of the left breast. It feels like there’s something hard down along there, starting not to far under my armpit.  That breast is slightly swollen as well. I did get breast implants about 9 years ago. Anyway the device could have moved down along there?  Other than that I feel like recovery is going along beautifully. Waiting for a call back from the pacer clinic.

Pacemaker

Has anybody out there gotten a pacemaker or know somebody that has gotten a pacemaker and was later told by a different cardiologist that you were misdiagnosed and didn't need one?  What did you or they do about it? I am more afraid of the surgery to remove it and the leads than I was of putting it in.

Shoveling my stupid car out

Today was fun, the first real snow since I had my heart attack and I got to shovel snow around my car. Took 2 hours while it normally takes 20-30 minutes and despite a highish heart rate, 130, and some heavy breathing it wasnt that bad just slow. I'm counting that as my cardio today and they can fight me.

The Hazards of Growing Old

Well, PM Friends, it finally caughht up with me.  I'm 82- 1/3 yrs old & my vision has been deteriorating for abot 10 yrs from Macular Degeneration.  For you youngsters in the clan, the Macula is the spot on the retina of the eyeball that defines The greatest detail.  W/o the macula, you cannot read very well because therre is a blank spot in your vision. If you want to examine what I can see now, close your right eye; look at the "G" key on your keyboard. ...

Canceling Travel Because of Heart

I've always wanted to do some offbeat travel--go to Bhutan and to Burning Man in the desert. My husband wants to take me now, but I feel too afraid to do this kind of travel.  I have been having total loss of consciousness episodes about every 4 months for the last year -- always in the morning. Multiple factors seem to be involved. At the time I got my pacemaker, I had bradycardia and asystole heart pauses of up to 11 seconds. Then came pericarditis. Four months after I got the pace...

Should I insist on getting a pacemaker?

I am 30 y.o. with bardycardia with a resting heart rate of 50 beat per minute.. At rest, it does on drops to 36-40 and occasionally I feel like I am out of breath and world is spinning when lying in bed. When I'm awake, it's around 60-70 best per minute.

I did a 24hours holter and was diagnosed with sick sinus syndrome; total of 9 pauses with longest 3.1 second. When my heart stopped for 3.1seconds, I was wide awake and did...

Feeling anxious

I just had my PM implanted 01/07/2019. The first week was horrible because they set it too high and my heart raced all the time and I couldn’t sleep. They dropped the setting and it’s been better but I still have trouble going to sleep as I feel like my heart is racing. It’s as if I feel my heart beating stronger than before. I also find if I eat a big meal my chest feels heavy after. Like harder to Breath deeper. I’m 52 female who’s always been super athletic wi...

Any skiers about?

We are shortly heading off for a week's skiing. I am wondering whether the electronic gates which read your lift pass work similarly to airport scanners. I know the usual advice at airports is  to ask to be excused going through, but  if not allowed,  provided you do not linger in the scanner they are harmless.

But that is just one scan. You can go through lift pass scanners countless times per day, and they are usually beamed so that they recogniz...
