declining pacemaker

Thank you to the people who responded to my question about whether declining a pacemaker would lead to a pleasant quiet death.  One person warned me about driving, and I want to assure him that my vision is now too poor to drive, so I don't own a car.

It seems that the pacemaker makes life better, but doesn't necessarily extend lifespan.  I'm on the hospital waiting list at present, so I have time to think about what to do.  Thanks again - it's lovely to get replies.

Not an easy question

I understand your question. I have thought many times about whether I will get a new pacemaker when this one dies.

I don't have any words of wisdom for you. I have realized that extended life, in an of itself, is not a worthwhile goal. And there are no objectlive measures of quality of life. One person's quality of life is another person's prison. I do know I am no longer willing to undergo any medical procedure for the purpose of preventing imminent death.

I think, in your shoes, my question would be how much better could I reasonably expect a pacemaker to make me feel?

You know you're wired when...

You need to be re-booted each morning.
