I received my first PM On Jan 8, 2018 at the age of 48. I have recovered well and other than PVCs have not had any issues. I have been wanting to be active as before that includes long walks, yoga (power yoga as well as long stretches), interval training and weight training. I met with my EP last week and asked him about it. He has no objection to my workout routine. I am told to resume all exercises if I want.
My sister who is now 44 also has a PM which was implanted when she was 31. H...

My husband had a pacemaker implanted a little over a month ago. Reason for the pm was due to his heart rate lowering into the 20's. At his first pm check up they detected a few episodes of ventricular Tacacardia which is a fast heart beat. Needless to say we were a little nervous to hear this as he did not have this prior to the pm. Now he has to have a Lexi scan to check for blockages. No symptoms and life as usual. Has anyone else had this issue and can you give us some piece of mi...

My Hubby used to be quite a loud snorer. Then 5 weeks ago he got his biventricular 3 lead PM. Now he breathes at night like a baby! Snores, if any, are gentle. Anyone else have this experience? I am definitely not complaining.

On the fluttering topic, and have always complained of fluttering more now than in the beginning. The pacemaker finally recorded it and I was told my heart is trying to beat with the pacer. Throwing extra beats. The doctor said not serious but might mean a beta blocker if it increases. Ok with me because my life has improved so much with he pacemaker that I trust them implicitly. I had both scarlet and rheumatic fever at an early age within six months and have had a hard time keeping up throu...

Friday I had my first pacemaker check up. The technicians that everything l looked great both wires were attached to my heart so that was a relief I had stretch my alarmstretch my arm a few times after recovery. I asked him if the rate response was on he looked and said no it was turned off that the only time the pacemaker would Pace would be to keep my heart at 60 beats per minute anything over that my heart was naturally doing. Then after looking at the chart he decided to turn the rate res...

I guess the Pacemaker Club is all about extending people's lives as were the demonstrations across the US today.
I would like our American friends to know that , here in the UK, there have been countless demonstrations to show our solidarity with you in your fight against gun ownership.
I hope that some good comes from it !

Hi all :)
I got my first PM almost 3 weeks ago :)
I already have a 7 year old daughter who I had with no pacemaker in.
How did you PM effect your pregnancy/labour (if it did)?
Anyone have any problems getting tattoos? I have a half sleeve started so would like to finish 🙈
And how does alcohol effect everyone? I’m not a big drinker anyway I’m just curious!
Thanks! 😊

Greetings all. I stumbled onto this forum just days before my procedure. Perhaps like others, I was doing some Google research to attempt to calm my nerves in advance of the event. I spent a long time reading postings, and must say it helped calm me down a bit prior to the hospital visit.
I got a shiny new Medtronic ICD pacer-defib combo, with the two lead install. I guess it's model # DDMB1D4 but I don't know much about it than that.
It had been sugggested for several yea...

Hi,
I had my pacemaker fitted 2 weeks ago and I’m really noticing a difference! My only thing I’m a bit concerned about is it normal being able to feel beating? Sometimes when I stand up or I’m washing up I start feeling beating in my chest and then it goes. I’ve never felt it before so I’m assuming it’s normal but I’m just a bit confused by it as it’s happening when I’m not exercising or doing anything strenuous.
Is this norma...

The pacemaker survey has closed and about 100 people responded. Thanks so much! Here are some of the results:
About 86% have a pacemaker (the rest have ICDs or CRT devices), most of which were manufactured by Medtronic (53%). Most respondents (44%) have had a pacemaker > 5 years, but 5% are newbies and have only had the device for a month or less.
54% wanted to know as much as they could about how pacemakers work but 21% said their doctors did a good job explaining the device t...

Hi All, just had a quick question. I had a dual chamber Medtronic inserted 12/15. Since then have had numerous issues with SVT,s and atrial flutter. Was initially pacing up to 60% on all interrogation reports. Last two reports have me at 100%. I have been placed on metroporol 50 mg twice a day and digoxin .125 mg. But am still having episodes of svt. Was wondering if this will ultimately shorten the battery life? The cardiologist is also scheduling me to be seen every 3 mths also for fo...

Im just concerned about baby moving the old pacemaker..it is still attached to my hea...

I would be interested to know what information forum members receive from medics about the data recorded by their pacemaker for their hearts?
I ask because I've had two recent pacemaker appointments, one for my 6 week post-implant review, and one before and after an MRI head scan, in different hospitals. The 6 week review told me little more than 'everything's fine', but the cardio nurse at the MRI scan was really helpful, showing me on her screen the dates of pacem...
