Fluttering

On the fluttering topic, and have always complained of fluttering more now than in the beginning. The pacemaker finally recorded it and I was told my heart is trying to beat with the pacer. Throwing extra beats. The doctor said not serious but might mean a beta blocker if it increases. Ok with me because my life has improved so much with he pacemaker that I trust them implicitly. I had both scarlet and rheumatic fever at an early age within six months and have had a hard time keeping up through childhood. Always tired and short of breath. This is gone so trust your doctor as they go to school a long time. Your Medtronic will record any problem. Relax but give up alcohol, caffeine, excess chocolate and stress.

Your flutter sounds like PMT (Pacemaker Mediated Tachycardia). They can actually change the pacing rate to overcome this issue.

I'm sorry but I have to say, your device will only record what they program it to capture. Because of a limited amount of memory in a device, they only want to capture events that are important.

"Relax but give up alcohol, caffeine, excess chocolate and stress." what's the point of living?

Ectopics perhaps?

I have suffered similar symptoms myself when I was a child. I had already had a PM for ten years (I got it at two). We went to my cardiologist, he said box was fine, the PM hadn’t recorded anything unusual. He said however, that I could be experiencing ectopics. Ectopics are extra beats. Sometimes apparently with PMs they are much more uncomfortable. As obviously your PM is most probably confused as what’s going on. They aren’t harmful, no matter how bad. They aren’t really any cures for ectopics. However here are some REALLY helpful tips that may help the little monkeys go away:

Slow breathing - in through the nose out through the mouth -for five mins

Distraction - music, good tv programme

Last but mostly like best (and may sound weird):

power walking - quick five minute walk around somewhere - maybe around the garden a couple of times - up and down the stairs etc

xxxxx

Hope this helps

thank you Rachel x as this is basically what the doctor said. It won’t hurt you. I did notice that as I am walking more due to the weather getting better, I haven’t noticed it as much. Andmusic with my sewing is helping. Now I will try your slow breathing. There are changes with a pm but compared to prior implementation they are better changes.

You know you're wired when...

You have an excuse for gaining an extra ounce or two.
