MRI scan

This is just to thank everyone who posted an answer to my question about MRI scans. I have now had the scan and, even though it was over an hour long, the procedure was OK.  Because I could actually see out of the back of the tunnel I didn't'  feel so claustrophobic. I had one on my back a few years ago and it was done in a portable one - incredibly dark and claustrophobic!  My pacemaker was put in safe mode before and I was rushed back up to have it put back after the...

Pounding pulse and blood pressure issues

Hello I am new to this group. My heart failure was one year ago this week. It took the docs two months to figure it out before getting a pacemaker. I have a Saint Jude two lead pacer. It has been a roller coaster ride from feeling brand new right after pacemaker to several low times with issues and problems.

So my questions today are about feeling my pulse and my blood pressure. My pulse, my heart having the senstation of beating very pronounced. This has been about a wee...

In only 3 months

Three months ago, I received my first dual lead pacemaker.  I had 3rd degree heart block, but my heart was in relatively good shape. Ejection fraction was .62 and no other negative symptoms.

I was just told by the cardiologist at my hospital, that I have developed Congestive Heart Failure due to consistent pacing on my right ventricle.  My Ejection fraction is down to .45.  None of the cardiologist mentioned that this was a possibility three months ago.

Now they are...

Newbie question: can you feel it when your PM kicks in?

I received my PM two weeks ago to control bradycardia and reduce Afib.  It doesn’t let my heart rate go lower the 70 bpm.  I really feel I can tell when it kicks in.  Is this possible, or just my imagination?  Your thoughts?

Complete block changed.

In 2015 I went into complete block and heart failure. Need a pacemaker and received a dual lead pacemaker. At my last pacemaker check the rate was lowered and then stopped completely. My heart was beating my itself. I was very glad to see this. I now have Left Bundle Brance Block only not complete block. My heart rate on its own is around 60 BPM. The pacemaker is set to kick in if it drops below 50 BPM.

Has anyone see this before?    Before I got  t...

Greetings Some questions from a newbie

I am a 66 yo male. Type 2 diabetic. Had RHOP chemo in 2008, and it seems the component Doxorubicin had a deleterious effect on my heart. About 2 months ago I ended up in ER, due to shortness of breath, and had multiple tests including nuclear stress, and cathardization, which found no blockage, but there is a left branch bundle block, and my left ventricle shows signs of hypertrophy.
My LVEF is about 25, and my pulse got up to 120, but stabalized at 95, which historically has been my nor...

I've been reading that you shouldn't raise your arm for 4 to 6 weeks, I saw my cardiologist 8 days after the implant and he said I could raise it over my head which I have been doing and now I'm wondering if he was wrong. Has anyone else done that after a week.

just diagnoised

I am 68 years old, fairly active, and recently experience a sudden drop in my heart rate. It averages 44 beats a minute. After a day on the Holter monitor I was told I need a pacemaker. I am scheduled this week to see a surgeon and get details.  What should I ask and what do I need to find out to insure that a pacemaker is right? This is all new to me and I feel somewhat apprehensive about the diagnoisis.

At a follow-up appt.(Late January, early February) due to a fast HR, I was diagnosed with Tachycardia and started Metoprolol Succinate ER for one month. Sick Sinus Syndrome and Brady-Tach...
