A Birthday Wish, For Mimi, September 8, ( 1948 )
If the breeze holds a whisper of Birthday magic
and your joy grows as freely as wildflowers in the sun
If your heart is forever smiling at how lucky you are
then this wish for you has come true.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MIMI !!!

I agree with the Magster and others, that we could use much more laughter in our lives. It is good, it is healthy, it is fun! I personally try to laugh everyday. Most times I succeed! :D
Many of you know me and also know that there has been times in my life that I have not felt much like laughing. I try, but during those times I seek support from this site to help pull me through those tough times. I believe that is so very important, not just to me, but to everyone here. Most of us...

Hey guys, what's up? Ok, so for those of you who, well, any of you really, I had chest pains a few weeks ago so I went to my cardiologist (he wasn't mine, but I went to the hospital where I normally go) and the nurse and interrogation guy said that it moved but the doctor said it didn't and he told me to take ibuprophen for two weeks and see how it went. Well, yesterday I didn't take any (shame on me) and we my chest felt like someone was constantly elbowing me, just like it did before the ibupr...

How many are still or went back to smoking I was a 3 pk a day until I went into the ER this time. When I had a 3 vain bypass in 1994 I still smoked. I know I would be a much nicer person to have around if I was smoking I am VERY VERY short in temper with everyone.

No, this is not a joke but I am posting it here because of the way jokes go here. I am 14 and would like to say some of the adults here act more like kids than the kids here do. Everyone is offended by everything and frankly, it is annoying! If you want to know more, just read the post under this one in the Jokes forum. Quite shocking how a simple thing can get so out of hand... Oh yeah, would it hurt to simply ask what is meant by the post?! Please try to lighten up, I understand people come he...

I received an ICD 8 days ago. Today is the 4th day of convulsions/stimulation or whatever. The EP doc office says diaphragmatic stimulation and I have an appointment for Tuesday. This is Saturday and I'm beginning to think I can't make it until them. The hospital and doc who did the procedure is 2 and 1/2 hours away so I am reluctant to go to the ER there and waste a trip. They said I need to be "re-programmed". I am so sore thru to my back I can't even relax. Any ideas for relief until T...

Some days I feel I can climb Mt Everest. Other days I can barely climb the stairs. After four years of a fib which never went to normal on its own, I had a pace maker implanted in July. The main reason for it was to improve my life style so I could dance and be active. I am 67 and active, but I still get winded at times. Other times I can exercise and feel terrific. Is this normal? Can I expect any improvement? Have others experienced this?

I was just wondering if a person can tell if or when a lead may become dislodged? Im about 5 weeks postop and I picked up a case of water bottles that was far too heavy and I felt something in my chest strain and have since had a few funny feelings inside. I was just wondering if its possible to be able to feel something different. Thanks, Jean

Has anyone since pacemaker implant had to wear a 30 day event monitor? I'm 3 weeks post implant for tachy-brady, but for now, because of my age I guess, only have a single chamber pacing my atrium. (My home town cardiologist was surprised that I only had one lead in my atrium......don't know why exactly. He said they're keeping it simple for now because I'm so young and that they'll probably have to insert another lead sooner or later.) It's all sort of confusing to me.
Anyways, I'm still e...

Hello everyone! I am new here and this is my first post. I am 22 years old and I have had a pacemaker for about 7 years and I just got my first one replaced last Tuesday, so this makes for my second pacemaker so far. Everything has been fine until yesterday I felt something protruding on the outside of my inside and before with my last pacemaker I was not able to feel anything like that or feel any leads at all. I wanted to know if anyone has ever had this issue, I left a voicemail for my cardio...

TraceyE you were right about some people needing a higher setting on their pm's. I'm finally feeling much better, alot more oxygen and energy since they changed my upper setting from 130 to 150, and shortened the response time. Thanks to all for the education!

Hi,
Awhile back someone was looking for the code used for Afib. I found it on the Wikipedia website under Afib. The ICD-9 (billing code) for Afib is 427.31 according to Wikipedia.
Hope that helps.

Hello everyone. I recently Decided to make some life changing decisions. I have started to exercise and loose weight. I would like to get back down to 150 or 160. I recently began to have muscle spasms around my pacemaker. I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this issue while exercising. The other day I had one so bad I though I was having a heart attack. It was terrible. Any advice would be helpful.

Hello to all.
I want to say a special thank you to the ones who have responded positively to the Birthday Wishes. Unfortunately, this is going to be the last Birthday Wish I will be posting.
The enthusiasm is gone, no one seems interested, a lot of veteran members have left, things have changed, people have changed.
The Birthday Wishes were started about 2 or 3 years ago, as a way to honor and thank the many members, for their help and contributions to this forum, without wh...

Hello,
I am due for a pacemaker replacement in the next 1 to 5 months. For the past week, i have been having this "heartbeat in my throat" feeling. I am wondering is anyone else feels this or is it just a sign of low battery?
I am not a pacer dependent and I need to make a decision as to whether I want a replacement or not since the doctor who doesn't' think I need it and leaves the decision to me.
On those who had a recent pacer replacement, how do you feel when your batte...

I had my semi-annual heart check-up last week. My pacemaker is working fine. My battery is estimated to last another 5 years. My ventricle is paced 100% of the time and atria 60%. My thyroid is back to normal and Im feeling fine.
My doctors still tell me that I will need my pulmonary valve replaced (I call it a valve job) sometime in the future. They are paying close attention to my echo results to see if my heart function is worsening. When I have surgery will depend mainly...

I've seen many posts about people being concerned about exercise after having a device so thought I would let you know that yesterday I raced my first marathon since having my pacemaker fitted in fall 2004.
