Has anyone had side effects from Beta Blockers such as dizzyness????

I take 25mg 5ml of Tenormin (Atenolol) daily. I have not had any problems with it apart from the taste!!! LOL.

Its for a high heart rate since heart surgery.

I swelled up like a balloon when I was taking one of them, can't recall the name, but I am on Ziac now and the thing about it is... maaaaaaaaakkkkkkkes meeeeeeeee veryyyyyyyyyyyy tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiired and sleeeeeeepy. I get dizzy too.

Some people feel tired when they take beta-blockers. Depression is another possible side effect. Certain beta-blockers affect tissues in the body differently and so may be less likely to cause certain side effects. If side effects are a problem with one medicine, a different one may be substituted.

The more common side effects include drowsiness or fatigue, cold hands and feet, weakness or dizziness, dry mouth, eyes and skin. Tell your doctor if you experience these or any other side effects.

Pookie, you were pretty right on with the general side effects for beta blockers.I have been taking them for about 15 years now. I never had any trouble with Atenolol until the doctors tried to take me off of it. I developed the jitters really bad. I take Toperal now. The one side effect which has recently become an irritation is it causes my blood pressure to fall, way below normal. With the drop in BP also comes dizziness. Beta blockers are used to treat hypertension

ACE-inhibitors also cause a drop in blood pressure.

i'm on 100 mg of atenolol per day -- and i've experienced most of the side affects at one time or another but as time goes on things get better as your body adjusts, although i still get fatigued every now and again :)
