Post implant
Hi all. Had to have a pacers installed on Friday after a cardio appointment on Monday. Not a lot of time to let reality set in. My biggest fear in life has always been hospitals. I was a awake and aware of my entire procedure. I was told that there would be an amnesia effect and I wouldn't remember it but the exact opposite happened.
Has this happened to anyone else?
To be honest it kind of messed with me a little and then the programming had massive issues as well. I did get...
Coping with new pacemaker
Hi. I had my PM installed on Thursday because I had my heart stop a few times in the last week. The stops recorded in the hospital lasted for 26 and 30 seconds but I know that at home I had some episodes that were even longer. I had an emergency PM installed and then sent home. All my episodes of heart stopping occured in my sleep or when about to sleep. I am now frightened to go to sleep. Does anyone have any advice on how to get over this fear? Has anyone else had heart stoppages this...
Going Back to Work
As of this coming Tuesday, I will be released to go back to work. In my mind, that is a good thing. However, I have some concerns. I work in a warehouse environment. My primary job is that of operating a forklift, loading and unloading freight, primarily in a flatbed trailer yard. This means I spend a part of my day tying down heavy freight with chains or straps as the situation warrants. I am having a hard time finding anything regarding guidelines for safety in my particular occupation. Thi...

I am a new member. Just got my pacemaker on 7-9th. I have been looking for somewhere to see what other people are experiencing or have experienced. I was glad to find this outlet. I was reassured to see that being depressed, especially being isolated as we are all, is pretty normal. I have always slept on my left side, so sleeping has been a problem trying to get comfortable on my back or right side. Hard to "behave" and not do the things I would normally do. I look at the dus...

Pacemaker
I have just been informed by my cardiologists nurse that my Dr. wants me to come in and talk to her about my most recent tests for shortness of breath and fatigue. The nurse said that she wanted to talk to me about a pacemaker.
My doctor has been around for many years and has a stellar reputation.
I will meet with her in 9 days. I am really flying blind. I do not know anything about pacemakers. Is there anything I should be asking or doing?
I am totally lost. I don'...

I don’t know what to do anymore
Today I saw my FIFTH EP. It was a new office, new city, new network, I actually had hope. He had great reviews online, the office was fancy, I actually thought this might go somewhere. I printed all of my records, I organized everything, I explained my story in detail to the NP before I saw the doc, etc etc. Then as soon as I made eye contact with my new EP I knew it was over. It took a total of about 5 seconds to destroy it. &n...

Hello All, well it's been almost a year now since I had my HA and found this site. After the HA they had to put in two stents due to the blockage. A little over a month later, I received the PM. All is well now. My question for all of you is this: Recently I have had a few flashbacks to everything that happened the past year, the hospital, the operation and such. Not like nightmares, but wake up in the middle of the night remembering certain parts. I also decided to retire after all this,...
Recently had CRT-D fitted
Hi. I'm new to this forum. I had a CRT-D fitted 2 days ago. Feeling pretty low and am surprised at how big the lump is under the dressing and how very sore. Is this normal experience and how long can I expect it to hurt so much? Any experiences appreciated

Antidepressant
I have been experiencing lots of anxiety this past few months. Was wondering if anyone can share an anti anxiety medicine that worked for them or any other type of treatment or therapy. Thanks so much
New to this
hi. I am due to have a crt-d fitted tomorrow and I'm really scared. I have an ef of 22% but no real symptoms of anything. Found out I had heart failure by accident as I had an xray and had an enlarged heart. Not sure I really want this procedure as I feel so well. Really struggling with the decision and very emotional about it. Any comments welcome.

Hi all.
I had a shock this morning and had to go to hospital. Thing is I have a 2 week old baby and now I am frightened to hold him incase it goes off again whilst I am holding him.
I really don't know what to do or who to talk to about it.
I can't go on just looking at my baby and worrying about not wanting to hold him.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Hello
I just had a pacemaker put in last week. A little over a month ago, I fainted while eating dinner. I went, with my wife, to the urgent care the next morning. They set me up to consult with a cardiologist, who decided I should wear a heart monitor for two weeks to see what is going on. He also had me schedule an appointment for an ultrasound of my heart. A week after I sent the monitor back, and while I was at the ultrasound, I had a phone call that I let go to voice mail. When I checked my vo...
General
My a-fib has always been higher when I lie down and since getting my pacemaker (January 2019) I have developed insomnia. It has been erratic until the last four months, but now bedtime has become a source of stress. Once I fall asleep I'm fine, but the problem is at the beginning. Has anyone else had a similar problem? Other than taking sleeping aids, could the pacemaker setting be changed?
Facemasks
Just a question. Is it safe to wear a facemask?. I'm told that these slow down your breathing.
Bradycardia
Hello my name is Priscilla, I had my daughter 4 months unfortunately I had to have an emergency c section because we almost lost her. The next day a cardiologist called me and said I might need a pace maker I felt like my whole life just eneded I was stil...
