2 Months post-op

I am two months post-op and just had my first echo since implantation(CRT-D). Before implantation my ejection rate was 30-35. It is still 30-35. Shouldn't it have come up a bit??? Diagnosis was primary cardiomyopathy.

Spooked!

I've had a PM optimization last June to finalize my LV ejection fraction. Yesterday, I had a follow up Echo that went well until the end when the Echo Tech lingered around my mid chest area. She asked me, "How do you feel?" Well, I felt just fine 'til she asked that question. She did not disclose what concerned her, and went to confer with the clinics cardiologist. She returned and wanted me to be sure I kept my next weeks already scheduled visit with my EP. The fact that the clinics card...

Rate response

Wasn't feeling great while climbing stairs or walking uphill, so I went in for an impromtu PM check. It turned out my HR wasn't getting much higher than 70 BPM with my low rate set at 60. My rate response had previously been off because I had normal sinus rhythm once upon a time. They tweaked my rate response and had me run around the building and up and down the stairs for five minutes and I noticed an instant improvement. Gonna test drive the new settings this weekend and report back to them i...

Heart Rate Settings

Hi, new member that just had a St. Jude CRT-D device implanted a week ago. This is my 5th device, over the years implanted, so I'm not new to the devices. I have had different brands, last one was a Medtronic ICD unit. I have total heart block and have suffered with V-tach episodes for a long time. That has been taken care of, now I stay in Afib for months at a time. I have had 2 strokes, due to Afib. My question is for anyone that would know why my heart rate was set at 60 in the hospital...

PACs

So I went to my semi annual checkup yesterday. I got moved from the every 6 month program to every 3 months. My PM confirmed that I had an episode of AFib for almost 14 hrs. But the bigger picture was my PAC runs. Every previous checkup I've had my PAC runs were 28 or less. This time it was over 45,000! So my doctor put my a "pill in a pocket" of propafenone. He said to take 3 when I feel my Afib come back and if/when it gets worse and more frequent I have the choice of a beta blocker or...

Cold feeling in chest

I wake up between 2 and 3 in the morning for the past 4 weeks after getting a new pacemaker with a feeling of cold almost liquidy feeling in the middle of my chest. My heart rate will be fast. After a bit it slows down and stops with the cold feeling. I did not have this with the first one. Any ideas?

Increasing %

Hi! I'm new here and glad to find this group. I've had my pacer since 09. At each of my last 4 pacer checks, my % of usage is rapidly increasing. Six months ago I was at 55%, now I'm at 66% upper and 5% lower. The tech doing the check had no idea why. I'm a vet and get all of my care through the VA...and they suck. Anyone have any idea why my % keeps going up?? Thanks.

missed beats

Could someone explain why if my PM is set at a base setting of 70bpm then why should I get a missed beat? I can understand why I could have missed beat above 70 and odd beat in between the PM`s 70 . If I have this missed beats and count say 65bpm instead of 70 then is the PM faulty?
Thank You ...mg

Pacing

Hi. I'm Christy 40 years old and new to the group. I had my second check up today since receiving my pacemaker and it went from pacing at 6.5% to 26%. I was shocked to say the least. I also have a lot of light headless. Is this normal?

No longer paced 100% of the time!

I just returned from my regular 3 month device check. I have been paced 100% of the time for the last 4 years. Today when the device check started the technician was surprised to see that my heart was conducting some of the time. She went and got the cardiologist and they said it is quite rare to have conduction after you have been totally dependent on a pacemaker.
I have been drinking a super food green mix religiously for the past 2 months. I really feel this is making me stronger.....

Minute Ventilation Parameter Tuning

There is a serious misconception among many electrophysiologists that minute ventilation pacemakers are no more effective than accelerometer-only pacemakers for people who need constant or almost constant pacing and that tuning pacemakers is a waste of time.Nothing can be further from the truth, whether you are sedentary or active.

When implanted, the Inliven pacemaker is set up with default values and hence needs to be tuned for any particular patient's needs at a pacing clinic by...

First year check-up: all good!

Just a quick post to hopefully reassure those who might be needing a pacemaker, as naturally most posts on the forum are about problems people want help with: I had a check-up yesterday after about 13 months of being 100% paced, and all is fine. No adjustments, no issues experienced so far. In fact I hardly think about it, though admittedly I am not a sportsman or extreme activities kinda guy so probably don't test my Medtronic thingy too much.

CLS new upper rate, problem still not solved

Today I've had another pacemaker checkup. The PM specialist raised my max HR to 160 and my tracking rate to 170. Unfortunately this did not fix the problem I am encountering; I'm still not able to exercise because my heart rate drops to my resting rate (70+20 bpm) after 10 minutes and won't go up again no matter what I do. I go out of breath and my legs become very heavy.

Has anybody had this problem too?

Twitches

I get three twitches that go across from the top of the left of my chest to the start of my shoulder (basically the area my pacemaker is in) exactly every three hours. I sometimes get them during my check-ups when they fiddle about with the settings. Does anyone know what this is? I was told it was when the pacemaker saves information but i dont understand why it would do that and my doctor is always reluctant to explain things in detail. Can't wait to move on from paediatricians, i want real in...

Pacer Adjustments at 1st Appointment

Howdy!

I just had a dual chamber pacemaker implanted on 10/5/15. All is feeling well. A bit of my background and then a question.

31yr old male with severe afib refractory to all meds. Ablation in 2009 and no problems at all with any SVT or afib. Had sudden syncopal episodes starting in 2014 and everything checked out (e.g. - tilt table, echo, angiography and anything else that could explain syncopal episodes). Loop recorder implanted last year, but was set to only start re...
