Looking for pacer that works best for cycling

I've had a Guidant for 7 years and need to replace. Guidant has a secondary setting to increase heart response to exercise. Because the torso doesn't move much this feature is particularly good for cycling.
My insurance doesn't have contract with Guidant. The two options I have are St. Jude and Medtronic.
I'm an athletic biker gal and want to keep exercising to moderate extreme. Does anyone have any experience with either of these pacers' ability to serve serious cycling?...
Calorie Burn with ICD

I have had a pacemaker from 2001 to 2003. Since 2003 I have had an ICD (Medtronic). My ejection fraction is 25%. I exercise regularly and never been shocked by the device yet. But when I am on an eliptical and it shows I burned 300 calories, did I really burn 300 calories? I mean, my ICD won't let my heart rate go above 150. Can I then burn calories like folks without ICD? How does it work?
Thanks.

Recently my EP/Cardiologist advised me not to bench press more than 75 lbs. for fear of fracturing a PM wire/lead.
I had been lifting twice that amount with apparently no problems.
Has anyone been given the same advice?
Thanks,
Syd

I set a goal starting today to hit the gym, and hit it hard. Todays workout consisted of all upper body work.. esp. the arms and chest... after 40 reps on a certain maching that will help my expansion range (i forget the name of the machine, but its when you have the weight setting at 40 lbs *my beginning...

It took this long to hit mid season form, but it is beautiful! I changed my grip(no more overlap)had my clubs all regripped. I took on a new swing keeping the arms straight and letting them hang while moving the shouldars. On the downswing I pull my shouldars ahead of my arms a bit. This worked great! But there was a problem....I lost too much power. The ball was flying nice but not going as far as it should. I studied the books and discovered that I was not cocking the wrist on my backswing. No...

Had my pm since 02/10 I have had little problems apart from discomfort around pm site.
I use a motorcycle for 99% of time, even went on 2662 mile holiday to Austria from Liverpool UK in June, brilliant adventure.
Last weekend decided to ride to Fort William, Scotland (about 300 mile) and do a bit of hill walking, took 5 hrs on the assent of Ben Nevis (highest mountain in UK) on the assent I could feel the pm activating occasionally but about 20 mins from top I could feel pm really...

I have been volunteering at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open here in Vegas for years, I had a PM implanted 3 weeks ago and my concern is for the "Palm Pilot" we carry and the 2-way radio used for communication. I am trying to find out if the EMI and magnetic fields these things emit are strong enough to be a problem. What I am hoping to find here is someone else in this situation. Out of the 1000's of volunteers doing this job my hope is 1or2 have pacemakers as we all do and can answer th...

I've joined this Forum since my implantation on May 25 at age 58. The surgical report refers to Sick Sinus, although my cardiologist told me last year that I had AV block.
So far, everything has been going great. The operation was a snap, recovery went well, I resumed swimming within 6 weeks, generally feel great.
Yesterday - Friday, I did 3,200 meters in the pool, basically the high end of my training, but nothing extraordinary. I then accompanied my wife downtown and walked with h...

We are planning a 5 day mid-Himalaya trek in December. I have a PM for heart block. Prior to being ill we lived in Nepal and often trekked with heavy loads - 50KG for me. (Also my body weight!)
I am a bit concerned about the effect of the pack on the PM - will it move or get shifted with the constant movement and the weight? I am proposing to carry 35 - 40 KG. I skiied with a small pack last winter, but the movement is very different in skiing, although I did actually feel ill for a coupl...

Hi! I received my PM 2 years ago. All is well, but I am feeling a little uncomfortable...I hiked the Grand Canyon in May, and carried a 30 pound pack on my back that pressed upon my upper chest. I felt like my PM had moved from its originall position. I have started to work out, using machines for the upper body at the gym. I feel like the PM has moved even more. I don't think the leads have been damaged - I still feel good. I received the PM due to 3rd degree heart block. I am just more...

I have an EnRhythm PM. It is set at a low of 60 BPM and a high of 150 BPM. It also has an a-fib arrestor. I have no problems doing every day things, washing the cars, mowing grass, repairing household appliances, and general home maintenance. My problem is I can't run more than 200 to 300 yards without getting winded. I'm 61 years old and I ride a bicycle and walk for exercise. I used to ride comfortably between 16 to 19 MPH, now, since I have a PM I can only ride 10 to 13 MPH. I wish I could fi...

I am scheduled for a defibrillator implant next week (Sept 21). I am 76, play tennis twice a week, and swim laps twice a week. I realize that I will have to give this up for a few weeks, but understand that I should be able to resume these activities afterward. If anyone can either affirm or disaffirm this, I would appreciate hearing from you.
Also - - - my Cardiologist says I cannot drive a car for 3 to 4 months. Is this typical?

Hello PM club ... I just had my PM implanted on Friday, Aug. 27, 2010. The first couple of days were rough ... soreness in my left arm, weird feeling in my chest ... and of course soreness at the incision. This is day 5 and I feel pretty good ... still a little nervous as what to look forward to but I feel pretty good. I plan on getting back to my daily walks of 2 - 3 miles and hope for the best. Is there anyone out there that has recently had the PM surgery and have started back to exercisi...

Hi All,
I was fitted with a pacemaker about 7 weeks ago, I am now looking to get back into it and am looking to purchase an exercise bike.
I am interested in the model York c302 Diamond Exercise Bike.
However I am a little concerned that the electromagnetic drive system for pedalling may affect my pacemaker.
Can anyone provide any info or guidance on this.
Thankyou
