Just curious

PM implanted march 12, 2010... I have never in my life "feel" my Hr, or heartbeat.. so I have been scared the last months, of the slightest race in my chest... BUT I am going to conqure this. I set a goal starting today to hit the gym, and hit it hard. Todays workout consisted of all upper body work.. esp. the arms and chest... after 40 reps on a certain maching that will help my expansion range (i forget the name of the machine, but its when you have the weight setting at 40 lbs *my beginning weight* and extend the arms outward and then onto your chest) I began feeling a slight "pull" feeling just under my PM.. I proceeded to push through the pain, and do 40 more reps. Then I proceeded onto a machine called the Ab Solo..throwing *starting weight* 5lb balls into a net while doing crunches. It works the upper chest/arms/torso and back. I did this 20x... it really increased the PM pulling pain... BUT I pushed through again, ending my workout with a few leg machines and finally 6 laps in the pool.. free/back& breast..again working primarily on my range with the arms and chest.

CURIOUS..as to how some of you began your workouts..and if 6 months is still too early for this hard of work??

My advice would be to ask your Doctor.
As they say, "before beginning any exercise regime."
I'm not sure "why" as a beginner, you would "push through the pain" as much as you did?

I am not a beginner per sey`... up until last summer when I started having the heart problems went to the gym 5 days a week and pushed myself 1 1/2 hrs a day, bustin tail... but from last sept. until now I hadnt been able to go to the gym often at all due to my heart. I gained 49lbs sitting here to scared of the newly felt pounding heart...but now I have to trust this pounding is healthy, and just get back into shape, and lose the 49 lbs I gained. I want to go into my next check up... helathy all over!! :) I am using lighter weights, and more reps.. and taking it actually very easy on myself. My cariologist did tell me, I can only do the breast stroke while swimming and nothing with the weight trining that extends past my shoulder line. Sooo I am limited some, but its ok. :)

I feel the same way. It really freaks me out to get my HR up now. Not sure why?
I used to exercise 4 times a week, but haven't since last Jan.
I've started out slow, walking & doing the urban re-bounder. Also the shake weight. LOL
If you've gained 49 pounds and haven't exercised for a year, I'd say you're a beginner again. (like me)
Take it slow.
