Well, I am into my 7 th week of post pacemaker and still feeling odd. I am also doing PT who comes to my home. Doctor has decreased blood pressure omens over the next two weeks.
I am seeing a therapist and taking Lexapro and one half tab of Xanax two times a day. Helps a little, but still anxious, not sure over what though. I want to get back to work, at least part time. I had a caregiver for a week, because I was so dizzy and it was bad. Wondering if this is just going to take mo...
Is pm a private matter?
Hi all,
I'm a new member to the site from Finland. I'm 33 years, male, and I have AV block 3, and it was diagnosed about 6 years ago. A PM was recommended from the beginning but I have been reluctant to have one. I haven't had any major problems with my health, although now I maybe understand better why I never was the best in any sports in school.
After the diagnose, I have been regularly tested to find out if there are any changes to HR. (Holter, ultrasound etc...
SubMammary Inplantation
Hi All -
After four months of activity with my pacemaker, I am noticing irritaion and inconvenience as a female with the standard upper chest inplant. One, both my swim suit and sports bra grand over the pacemaker. My regular bras have to be purchased with a strap narrow enough to run along side the pacemaker and then they have to be cushioned to stop irritaion.
Have any of you had a Submammary device placement (SMI)? How is it working? Also, were you given...

Are severe anxiety and depression common after pacemaker implant? I am 5 week’s out of having a PM.I am currently on Xanax and Lexapro for anxiety. Also, seeing a therapist. Just have never felt this way ever. Delayed reaction to other things. I am really feeling ok about my new pacemaker, but wonder if there are underlying issues? Having my BP meds checked tomorrow.
Thanks
Pain post-Pacemaker and Ibuprofen
Well, here I am back again with another question. It has been less than three weeks following my Medtronic pacemaker implantation, and I get these fleeting periodic pains in and around my heart. They are responsive to Ibuprofen; however, I don't want to be on this drug for the rest of my life. Can I expect the pain eventually to go away, or will I be stuck with it?
Also, there has been another consequence. I always had hypertension, but now that the pacemaker is here, my pulse is no...

it has been one month since my pacemaker. All is well with me medically. I have good “hours” and an occasional good day. I am going back to school on Monday. At times I feel a bit light headed and just off. I explained this to my NP, and my blood pressure meds may have to be adjusted. I am also on 10 mgs of Paxil for anxiety. I started taking this in Nov due to really bad afib episodes. Not sure if this is the correct medication. I am seeing another NP on Tue...

when I got my pacemaker I was 115 pounds. I had complete heart block for bradycardia. I got the pacemaker in April 2017. By November of that year people noticed that I lost a little weight. I never really noticed. But I weighed myself a few days ago after my friends told me I look too thin. I was shocked that I now weigh 101 pounds. I am 5’3. I haven’t deliberately tried to lose weight and am not on any medication. Any thoughts?
Pacemaker and shoulder muscle
19 months since Sparky arrived and all the EP visits have been just fine - zero issues with the pacemaker, but I do have a question.
I'm right handed and the PM is on the left side in what I would guess is the normal kind of pocket maybe an inch or so below my colar bone and maybe 2 inches from my rotator cup.
Over the past few months, I've been expierencing some discomfort when I try to sleep on my left side as the edge of the PM seems to dig into the muscle between the P...

Thank you to everyone that responded to my post. 2019 will be a great year for me. I realize that with my small frame I'm going to have some discomfort. I didn't realize how weak I was until I started physical therapy. PT is gong well and I do my therapy at home as well. My site is very sensitive to stress as the keloid sits on the device so I have to eliminate as much as possible. I am now accepting the fact that this is my new normal. My divorce will be final this month and I...
Frustrating
When I was 19 I was diagnosed with SVT and had corrective surgery. Fast forward to 37 and my heart rate slowed down to much and I had to get a pacemaker. I got it in November. I went to the ER in October because I was feeling horrible and it turns out my blood pressure was high for me. They didn’t tell me that I payed attention to the reading and it was on my discharge paperwork. I used to have perfect blood pressure and this time it was 144 over 88. And at one point 90. This hospi...

upcoming implantation of pacemaker
I'm 67 years old. Had an ablasion done 13 years ago which caused a second degree heart block 24 hours after the procedure. I was advised by all the doctors to put a pacemaker right then but decided not to do it. I never fainted or felt dizzy. At that time my pusle averaged at 45 bpm and now it's more 35. I have been strongly advised to finally have the pacemaker put in. The issue I'm struggling with is wether to put under the muscle or under the skin. The...
Atrial Fibrillation after Implantation of Pacemaker
On December 18, 2018, a Medronic pacemaker was implanted. I apparently had bradycardia with a pulse of 28 bpm at night with 7 second pauses. But I was asymptomatic. Five days after receiving the pacemaker, my chest began hurting and deep breaths were painful to draw. I was told that my heart tissue was inflamed, and that Ibuprofen was the answer. I took it for several days, and the benefit was amazing. No more such pain. Today, December 27, I went in for a wound check, feeling fine, and the t...

I just joined this group today. I got my PM 01/29/18. I'm in complete heart block. I pace at 100%. I stil have a hard time with knowing I rely on a device to live. I don'ttalk to anyone about how I go thru or how my life has changed. I have a keloid on my device, so I see a chronic pain Dr. I went through 2 EP's before finding one that cared. My PM made me re-evaluate my life and I will be divorced in January. I have a great friend that encouraged me to find a support group....
Tired
This is my second pm. I popped back fast from the first one. Had the second surgery Nov 13 and the AV ablation two weeks later. Feel good in the morning but by noon my energy level is low. I spend my afternoon's resting. I sure hope I start feeling better soon. Anyone else have this issue?
Sleep positions and when to fly in a plane
Hi, I am new to this world of pacemakers. Had medtronic implant done Nov.7, 2018. What sleep position(s) are you most comfortable with at night. I'm having a few problems staying comfortable for very long.
Also when is it ok to fly?
Thank you so much.

Hello Everyone and Merry Christmas!
i got my pacemaker a year and a half ago. As I have mentioned in the past, it was an emergency situation and completely unexpected.
i have had a pretty easy time coping. I feel grateful. But last night I awoke with a jolt because of the following:
there was a flash of light that was a mix between a camera flash and an X-ray. With the flash I could get a visual of everything in my body particularly the skull.... teeth, etc. It felt electric...
Afib
Hey Folks, I'm new at this. So bear with me. I had a pacemaker inplanted on November 9th, I have Atrial fibrulation, Which is literally debilitating when it starts in. I have episodes every week or so.
The are talking Ablation soon, but my question is: In the meantime, anybody have any tricks to get my heart back in regular rhythm. The episodes last from 8 to 40 hours at at time, and I feel like I'm going to pass out and hen it gets better for a few minutes then bad again. They...
