Can‘t breathe
Hi everyone!
got my PM six weeks ago (3rd degree AV Block).
Today I had a run of about 30min and it was quite hard at the end due to missing energy...
Some hours later I hab suddenly soemthing like a panic attack. My pulse was racing and I felt very bad for a short time. I am now under The Impression I cannot breathe enough air and sleeping is also Not possible. Cold feet are also a sign that my BP is down...
Anyone experienced The same? Anxiety? Panic attack?

what you said is literally the ONLY sign I had that I was having a heart attack and I ignored it that time. Go to the ER, get checked out to be safe. at worst you will out the visit cost for nothing but now you know. I dont ever play with my weird heart feelings anymore be safe and alive.

I hope you can get a printout of your Pacemaker Report and study each page. Since you are young you might want to get a EKG machine and learn how to use it by watching YouTube. I hope your not going into Afib.

Depression
by oip976 - 2018-12-25 12:11:36
I was now with two independent doctors, both meant my lungs and the heart working quite normally. A doctor friend of mine examined me again and only said that organically everything is good. However, he said that I was almost in depression and the symptoms like palpitations and shortness of breath were caused by it. He strongly advises me to consult a psychologist. I will look for a therapist and get advice there and hope this helps me with my fears and breathlessness and to geht trust in the pacemaker
Trank you very much your help
Panic attacks

After my fainting episode because of an AV block + subsequent pacemaker implantation I suffered very bad panic attacks, although unrecognised by the hospital + myself a retired psychologist. They would come in waves, hot flush, shortness breath, nausea, sometimes headache, elevated blood pressure + impending feeling of doom. The very worst occured whilst asleep. I would wake with all the symptoms previously mentioned only x10. As a consequence I went to ER x4 by ambulance, but nothing was ever found + pacemaker was ok. The feeeling would usually pass after about 10min. I became anxious about sleeping + had very little sleep as a consequence. One doctor suggested it may be panic attacks, but I incorrectly rejected that as I told him it was worst when sleeping. I decided to take low dose Valium before trying to sleep + it worked wonders. I slept normally for the next 3 days + the occurrence of these events diminished during the day. These events are very horrible, but will not hurt you. The hard part is telling yourself its ok, relax, focus on your breathing rate, + let the adrenalin surge pass. For years I have told others how to do it, now I know what they were experiencing, + how difficult it can be. Good luck with your recovery.

I don't have any opinion about panic attacks but clearly you were not able to run for 30 minutes with ease, although you expected to. You might simply have been trying to do too much too soon. Regardless, I agree you need to consult with your doctor.
When I was your age I couldn't have run for 30 minutes, and I certainly couldn't do it now. Be aware that you might be one of the youngest, most athletic patients your doctor sees, and he/she might be inexperienced in helping people who have your athletic expectations.
Pacemaker settings are not one size fits all. You might need to educate him or her about what pacemakers settings are needed to maintain a very active, very fit lifestyle.
