I am a 63 year old man with over a hundred marathons completed along with 3 Hawaiian Ironman's. In 2013 I suffered a major heart attack and had a stent implanted. When I first started back running HRM's seemed to work ok. Now I don't seem to be able to get any to work at all other than an older Timex that sometimes works but no GPS. Can anyone help me so that I can continue to exercise safely. None of the doctors I ask think that the stent can interfere but I beg to differ. Doesn't anyone...

I am a new recipient of a PM and in my second week of recovery. Coping with it is a little difficult at times, and after reading some of the posts out here I feel a little better and a little more patient with my recovery time. I play electric guitar and I'm around amplifiers and speakers often. I was wondering if there were any musicians out here that are around the same equipment and if you have had any problems. Thanks!
Loop recorder ILR + pacemaker

I had a loop recorder (Medtronic) ILR placed a couple of weeks ago. I already have a pacemaker. I managed to download the ILR a couple of times afterwards, but now it wont pick up the information and send it to clinic. Technician suggests this is happening because of the pacemaker signals. Wondering if anyone else has both ILR and PM and the same difficulties? Thank you.

I have been picked to donate bone marrow! As ecstatic as I am/ was the bad news was a complete downer. I was a match to save a life, yet having a defibrillator and pacemaker at the age of 26 denies me from being able to help. The one thing that tickles my nerves the most is knowing I can help, but not being able to do so. I realize there are regulations, but my doctor is perfectly fine to stand in on any procedure done on me. If it's to save the human kind why not. I know this may not be the rig...

Hi all,
I own a ps3 w/wireless controllers and I'm wondering about the possible effects. The playstation faq is very broad on the subject, just stating that one should consult physician or the device documentation. Anyone have info on this?

has anyone ever had any problems using corded or cordless power tools, such as hand held power saws, or table saws.
doc told me what to avoid.... but he didn't warn about A-fib and odds of still getting zapped.

Hi folks, hope everyone is well
I was recently hired to work for a contracting company locating utility lines(gas, cable, phone, hydro, water) Having not started yet I am a little worried about the equipment affecting the pacemaker. It's pretty low wattage(around 12 watts I think) and where the signal comes from is about 3-4 feet away from my device. It's electromagnetic equipment like this

Just perusing the recent messages today and had to add this. I have posted and commented many times (as have others) about how I have exposed myself and my CRT-P to electromagnetic fields (EMF) in many conditions, from huge power generators all the way down to how I hold my cell phone. I always inserted the disclaimer that I did not do welding. My brother-in-law was recently told he needed an ICD due to a-fib and prior damage from two heart attacks. His EP originally wanted to implant one of th...

I am concerned that any closeness to a WiFi computer will cause interference with a pacemaker.(Which I have yet to have fitted) Is there a limit to how long a computer can be operated at a time. I am also concerned that my present condition, which has prompted my medics (my son included) to diagnose the condition for which they are recommending a pacemaker, has been caused or exacerbated by over frequent and prolonged close contact with a LAB TOP computer. (My name for it, it is too large t...

Hey ya'll,
I am looking for information or recommendations for a device to measure electromagnetic interference. I will be having a Boston Scientific ICD implanted May the 20th. I currently work in a pulpmill full of large electrical motors, motor control centers MCC's, Industrial transformers, and a powerhouse that has steam driven turbine generators.
After some reluctance, our industrial hygienist has come on board to help me identify any areas that I may need to avoid...

I have a Samsung GalaxyS4 smartphone and a Kindle with a Kindle cover (magnet closure that puts the Kindle into sleep mode)
I had my first pacemaker implanted April 7 (26 days ago) on right side. I was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation last June. My heart rate was slow (as low as 29 at night with daily avg of 55) While my incision looks great, I have had continuing pain at the site and extreme sensitivity (burning feeling) in the chest area below it and to the center of my chest. It...

Hi,
I'm a 28 year old male who has a trade as a boilermaker. I haven't been welding since I've had my pm but am wondering if anyone knows if there is any real problem if I do? I'd love to be able to do my trade again. Thanks

I am having a ICD installed week after next. It will be implanted on my left side, or I should say that is the side they want to implant it on. I am a sporting clays shooter and just recently found out (by accident) that I will no longer be able to shoot because I shoot left handed and the dr says it will or could damage the device and/or leads. This is my main activity, take that away from me and life will not be good!!! I was told by my dr that the device could be implanted on my right side...

Ok Disney Fans! I am going to Disney World in 20 days. I have been reading threads trying to find out for sure what rides to avoid with my pacemaker. It's a Versa DR Pacemaker Model #VEDR01. I keep reading different information. Has anyone been to Disney and ridden any of these rides and experienced any problems? Tomorrowland Speedway, Thunder Mountain Railroad, or The Great Movie Ride. Also any of the parades? Thanks for the information!

This might sound strange, but this has happened a couple of times. When riding in a van to the airport....and sitting in the rear seats of the van, my heart rate seems to increase as the van moves....not when riding in the front seats. What could this be?

This whole alien pacemaker thing in my chest is kind of wearing off, except for today, when it felt like that little sucker was trying to get born. I have felt like whale crap all day long: fatigue, strong thumps and mutterings from that little techno marvel, very low blood pressure. So, to make a short question shorter. This is a big honking solar storm hitting us right now. It could theoretically disrupt power supplies and such, but my focus is narrowed to that point in my upper left ches...

I have a question. I am concerned about rides that use the strong magnets. We are going to Disney World in Florida in a month and I was wondering if there were any rides there that have caused interference with pacemakers. I have a Medtronic Versa DR Pacemaker and have had it for 15 months with no problems. Thanks in advance for any information that you might have.

Hello! I will be traveling to Disney World next month and we will be wearing magic bands with RFI technology to get onto rides, get into our hotel room, pay for meals, etc..... They said that we can change to another card when we arrive that uses different technology but won't interact with the park when they send out information like the magic band does. I cannot seem to get more information from anyone at Disney. Do you know whether or not these are dangerous to wear with my dual lead pacemake...
