increase in resting heart rate
Hi,
I have a pacemaker/defibrillator and have had no complications for the three years I have had it. I am on amiodarone and a very low dose of coreg. For the past three years my resting heart rate was in the low 60's-now it runs in the mid 70's to 80.
Could my body be getting immune to the coreg and I may need a up dose to keep the resting heart rate down? Otherwise I feel fine, exercise daily, eat healthy, low salt,no sugar and normal weight.I am female.Any ideas?
Thanks,
Sha...

I went to my dr.appt yesterday and although I didn't see the dr cause it was just an appt for a device check, they didn't find anything on the PM when they interogated it so I have to go back next wed for an echo. They hope they can find a reason for the palpatation and dizziness. I was able to record a couple of episods at work today with my event monitor as they told me to try to catch as many as I can before next week which is sometimes hard to do working in a hospital..not like I can tell t...

Hey everyone! Just registered and saying hi
Hey everyone! My name is Damon. I'm 21 and had SCD in February of this year. I now have an ICD. I've been shocked on 3 occasions now, twice I only received 1 shock, but last Saturday I was shocked 5 or 6 times in a row. They also did a NIPS test on me last Tuesday where I was shocked 3 times while under anesthetic. Each time I was shocked it was because I got my heart rate too high while being active, and my ICD thought I needed to be shocked. I feel like getting shocked unnecessarily is messing...
Got a call back from the Dr
Finally got a call back today from the drs office, they want me to come in on wed so they can interogate the pacer and see if they can see what is causing my symptoms and hopefully see what happened when I was at the gym and my episode that I had when I was at work thursday. Ever since that night at the gym I have felt very tired and just not myself. Just in case someone didn't read my post of what happened I was at the gym when I got real dizzy and had some chest discomfort so I went and sat d...
R U Beeping?
Hi! I have had a guidant ICD for nearly 8 years and 2 nights ago something awakened me beeping..I thought it was the smoke alarm and nearly woke my husband-but that's loud and shreaking and the beeps I heard were very soft and there were about 15 of them. I'm still not sure it was my icd..too sleepy...does anyone know- will it beep again if it was my icd??? I'd feel real stupid calling the Dr. if it wasn't . Thanks for your input and suggestions. You are a great bunch of people.
Frustrated!
So after my bad episode at the gym monday night I finally decided to call the dr on thursday since I still wasn't feeling the best, they told me that since I didn't use my heartcard and record anything they really didn't have anything to go by but by thursday afternoon I had another episode at work with the hard palpatations, hot, sweaty, and coworker said my face and arms were beat red like I had a sunburn and I was able to use the heartcard and record it, I sent the info over the phone as they...
ICDs and patient longevity?
Can patients with PVC arrhythmia problems and ICDs have a normal life expectancy?
Or is this a condition that gets progressively worse to the point where no interventions work?
Troubled over my new problem.
almost passed out at gym!
Today I went to my EP dr they checked my pacer and said everything looked ok was still pacing 70% of the time and I was able to convince them raise my upper rate on the pacer f rom 130 to 145 so when I went to the gym my HR could go a little higher. I asked about my dizziness, palpatations, and shortness of breath so they gave me device called a HeartCard to record what my heart is doing when I have these symptoms as he is not sure. I decided to go ahead and go to the gym tonight as a last minut...
Dizzy and lightheaded
The past couple of weeks I have had episodes of feeling dizzy, shaky and lightheaded. The first time it happened I thought maybe I just needed to eat but it has happened a couple times since and was after I had eaten. I also have been feeling short of breath off and on. I have a single chamber PM that was placed in July due to sinus tach after 3 ablations that were unsuccessful. Does anyone have any idea if this is PM related or if my heart is doing weird things. I sometimes feel short of breat...
How strong is the kick from an ICD?
Thank God that my ICD has never fired but if it does, I know it is painfull. My question is though - does in knock you off your feet? I have balance problems and do not weigh very much and am worried in case I get thrown over do damage .Thanks
Anxiety
Hi,
I was shocked 3 times (2 which were apparently not necessary) after sprinting down a hallway and then down some stairs. I believe I passed out for a split second before the first shock because I didn't feel the first one.
I've been to the hospital and they have tweaked some settings but I'm extremely anxious and worried all the time now that my heart rate will all of the sudden jump and I'll pass out and be shocked. It feels like I have constant butterflies in my heart. I'm really...
Newby
Hi people! I am new in this club. Tickled to death to find it. I can tell there are many very knowlegeable people in here. Hoping someone can explain the capacitor, apparently my battery is fine. My capacitor is starting to get low. I know that it juices everything that works...so-o-o when it gets too low will it make the battery beep? (Guidant was implanted in 2005) or will it shake, rattle and roll??? lol ..Thank you to anyone who responds in advance.
Atrial Fibrillation with ICD
I had shortage of breath the past two days and when I went to the cardiologist today they took an EKG and I was told that I had gone into atrial fibrillation and that was the cause of the shortage of breath. Doctor also increased one of my heart meds to 3 times a day rather than two. I was told if this does not improve the AF by next week, then they will have to give me an electric shock through the AF device to regulate my heart. I thought that was the purpose of my having this biventricular...
confused!!
I have a single chamber boston scientific PM and I wasn't feeling the best at work the other day so since I work in a hospital I was able to hook myself up the tele montior. My settings are set at 60/130 but what I don't understand is I thought that it would only pace if I went under or over my settings but it was pacing 100% alot of the time even if my heart rate was in the 70s and a couple of times my rate was 130 and even 150 once for a short time. Anyone have any suggestions?
Defib cause shortage of breath?
I had a biventricular defibillator/pacemaker implanted on Aug. 1st and have healed rapidly with no problem. I exercise at the gym regularly (recumbant bike and treadmill) and have no problem with losing the weight that I have lost (over 20 lb). The past two days I have had shortage of breath (like I did before the implant) and thought it was because of having excess fluid in my stomach and ankles. I take Furosemide (Lasix) to help with the removal of the fluid. I wonder if anyone has experien...

Gym day
Today was my first day that I have went to they gym since having my pacer put in back in july, I think it went pretty good for the most part but here is my question...I think my high rate on pacer is 130 and when my heart rate got up to that point and tried to go higher I got some pain and discomfort around the pacemaker area. Should I have my dr raise the rate or leave it where its at?
Replacement of ICD
Hi everyone,
I had several useful and interesting suggestions from many on this forum ever since I mentioned about the battery depletion of my present Medtronic ICD.
I live in Dubai and the earlier ICD was implanted in India 4 years and 5 months ago. During this time, there was no incidents of shocks but it appears the pacing was at 98% almost all the time.
Now the battery has hit 2.62 which is the threshold for replacement. I am told that the 3 leads are in good con...

It may be the first time we've felt a normal heart rhythm in a long time, so of course it seems too fast and too strong.
