Can anyone share an experience on Mitral Valve repair and the "back to normal" life that I am led to believe will result after the operation. I can barely walk across a room without getting exhausted. I cant bend over without nearly passing out, I sleep with an oxygenator to combat waking up gasping for oxygen (it works beautifully) I suffer from sever E.D., my toes are tingley numb, fingertips too, and I force myself to walk any distance. I was diagnosed with moderate regurgitatin...

I had my pacemaker surgery 8/31/2023, I have told my doctor at every visit that it hurts and it's not in the same place as it was, he completely ignores my complaints, the nurse writes everything I say about the pain but after the visit the doctor writes patient has no complaints. I even have someone with me at each appointment that knows I have mentioned this many many times. Now it feels like an area is going to literally poke through my skin, it was never like this before, I know most...

I had my pacer installed in 2009. I only use it during sleep when heart pauses. Last year my use went down to only 4 episodes. I am currently on vacation and in the last month I've noticed when in bed if I lay on my left side it triggers the pulsing 6 times each time until I shift off that side. Is this normal? I've never had this issue before.

Study highlights risks of anxiety and depression after cardiac device implantation
I counted today over 100 entries, using the search feature on the Forum, with the word “anxiety” in the message. Many other posts had words like “stress” or “fear” or depression” in the messages. Anxiety, fear, stress and, even, depression are incredibly common issues amongst us. Who hasn’t experienced a moment, especially when the device was new to us, where we didn’t stop and think to ourselves “wait,...

Hi Indy77, Sorry to hear you have to be dealing with this stress and worry. I would be worried with extracting a lead that old also. I had a lead extraction done, but it was for a fractured lead that had only been in for about 5 years. It came out ok, but I also have a clotting disorder, but sounds like the opposite of your problem. I tend to clot to easily. So after they extracted the lead, I clotted my entire subclavian, innominate and even into my jugular...

Hi all,
Congenital complete heart Block patient, 46 years old, female. I am currently on my 3rd device, a medtronic crt-p. Currently have estimated 9 months left on device. Original implant for this one was 2014. I am paced 100% in ventricle and between 50-60% in atria- so very dependent.
My Original right ventricular lead had to be switched from bipolar to unipolar about 4-5 years ago due to "zapping" feelings. General feeling was that it was due to age wearing th...

I had a new pacemaker in November 2022. My nightime resting pulse (rhrough my ear) is 39, although pacemaker is set to 60. With my old pacemaker the same pulse was a rock-steady 60. I feel fine. Should I be concerned?

I pace 100% of the time. Is it safe for me to walk through a magnetic scanner at a sports event? Ii've noticed many PVCs since I did it the first time and since (about a month).
Will my at home monitor pick this up?

I like to keep myself knowledgeable about things when it comes to health... and I don't know anyone personally who has had heart attack symptoms.. or a heart attack at all. Thank goodness...
so I read up on this.. what are some symptoms if any pacemaker recipients have experienced?

Rather than tack onto my other thread, I am starting a new one. This regards my heart bpm going to 58, 57 and 55 briefly in the ER. My cardiac nurse consulted with my cardiologist and called me back this morning.
She said, "there's no need to be concerned about your heart rate going below 60 when you were in the ER as long as it's not sustained that's normal for your pacer not to do anything. "
She said she rechecked my last pacemaker report and a...

Hello Everyone
I am a 46 year old female. I had a Complete Heart Block in August, shortly after a significant medical event which occurred three weeks prior. I hemorrhaged after a routine hemmerhoid surgery and required several blood transfusions. It is not know whether there is any relationship between the two events.
It has been determined that my RVL is working too hard and is draining the battery life of the pacemaker. It is thought that this is because...

My old Paemaker and leads were removed and two new leads installed 2/6/24. During lead removal, the lead broke and they had difficulty getting it out. During the process, the Tricuspid valve was damaged and I am experiencing extreme fatigue and dizziness. They wanted me on lasix, but my blood pressure is low and I don't want to risk of it going even lower. I want to seek immediate repair and meeting with cardiologist tomorrow. Does anyone have a recpmmendation as to the m...
