when do settings get checked after implanting?

Hello, I had my PM put in on July 1 due to heart block. I think they set it for 60-150bpm. They wanted me to follow up with a new cardiologist in one week (because my old cardiologist moved to another city). I could not get an appointment until two weeks after my surgery. The cardio didn't tell me much of anything, he was just very abrupt and non-personable. I didn't ask some questions I had because they seemed "silly" in that situation. Diaphragm throbbing

Does anyone have my problem with pacemaker and if so what can be done about it.
My chest throbs everyday for about 10 minutes, with quite noticeable thumps ( no pain) it's liken an alien trying to get out. I
I have told the doctors and nurses but it never happens when they are around.
Yesterday I managed to film it on my phone and am going to show the medical staff I am not imagining it.
I am going for a checkup next Wednesday and will let you know the result.

Could there be a setting problem?

Hi,
I had PM inplant in 2010. Specifically I was chronically tired and a halter monitor showed that my pulse rate went down to 39 during the night. Sometimes.
So it was decided that a PM would help, It was set at 60bpm, Every 6 months I had to go in and have it read. It showed that sometimes, for only a few seconds at a time, my heart would race. I changed DRs!

It appears I made a good choice. He is very through and talked about this the other guy never did. He said Yes. the implant was justified,
He feels we can get to 80% of what I was! I will take it.
in 2 weeks we willcombine tweaking and the treadmill.
He gave me a good tip too. "Take lots of breaths before doing stairs. The drum major doean't know wht you are about to do, this will trigger him!" It works!
He is a UCLA DR. He sure relieved anxiety

Heart rate rapidly dropping

I'm 40 and had a Medtronic Adapta dual chamber pacemaker placed in May for 2nd degree AVB. I was doing good the first couple of weeks and then developed palpitations when my heart rate goes over 80 (which it is almost all the time) and shortness of breath with minimial exertion, like one flight of stairs. Lead check

Was in today for PM check, still have afib and aflutter, no long periods of afib but a couple of 10 hr periods of aflutter. Lots of PVCs not a problem. Do have a notation by PM for Atrial lead check, how do they do that? Tech suggested asking about Verapamil med change, been on that and metropol for about 15 years. Body perhaps not responding, any thoughts on verapamil? What are the alternatives to verapamil and did I spell that right?

heart is pounding and irregular

I am 6 weeks post Medtronic Sensi Dual Chamber PM. I have always had irregular heartbeats since implantation. My doc has tweaked it twice, but today he decided to turn one of them off to see if that would quit the irregular HB. It seemed okay until I got home. Now it won't quit beating hard up my throat, feels very irregular non-stop and I can't get comfortable at all, and certainly won't be able to sleep with it going this way. Question on Setting and EF

I am new to this forum. But I have no answers. My daughter who is almost 4 had an adapta pacemaker implanted in 2011. It was set in DDD mode low rate is 80 and high is 210. They also set it in sleep mode for at night at 70. She recently was hospitalized and had her mitral valve replaced with a mechanical valve. The surgery went good. Kind of concerned

I have a particular health plan that is known for being especially "budget conscious"

Anyway I had my Pacemaker placed in 2006 for Cardioneurogenic Syncope diagnosed on a Tilt table (with Asystole that was reversed.) I have a couple of unrelated chronic health conditions but my heart has no known "intrinsic pathology."

When I joined this Health Plan in 2007 the Cardiologist saw me once that year, and then once in 2008 and in 2009. I have never been seen by a Cardiolog...

Hello all, I'm hoping anyone can explain the setting of "Atrial Preference Pacing" does ? This is 1 of the available setting in Medtronic PM that suppose to intervene arrhythmia. PM Follow Up

Hey everyone, I'm pretty excited here. I'm a month post op and am believing now I am not just on an adrenaline rush, but am actually feeling so much better after the PM has been inserted. I am a teacher so I am super anxious to get to a new school year so I can be feeling alive again in the classroom. Fatigue

Hi everyone. It is now 23 days since I had pacemaker fitted and I an tired all the time. With a small amount of movement I get tired. I had to go to hospital for unrelated tests yesterday. Raising upper limit

Just had a check up/ setting meeting today. New Medtronic tech rep. He's very cooperative. I explained my problem of fatigue upon little exertion. Thanks to the people on this site, I was able to have an intelligent conversation with him. He called my Dr. and they agreed to raise my UL from 120 to 130. I realize it's only a small step, but I'll call him in a few weeks for another increase if necessary.

I am now a "problem patient"

My daughters went with me to appt. w' EP & Medtronic rep. They told us that they don't set up the carelink monitor with the new device for a month to let the heart adjust to new PM. we were concerned due to a 3 hour event late at night and I was unable to send in a remote check. First they said the new PM was incompatible with mold monitor, than they said it WAS compatible & to send in a Remote check transmission at 9 that night, which I did. 60/130 rate, what does it really mean?

I read somewhere from previous posts that the PM does not LOWER your heart rate, it only increases it. So, what does a rate setting 60/130 really mean? Can someone take me back to the basics and really explain what the PM does when these numbers are set? I thought I understood what these settings mean, but I'm more confused about it the more I think about it.
That's why I need to go back to the basics and understanding it more thoroughly so that I can communicate better with the PM tech...

Maybe I need rate response

I'm pretty new to this and learning, 4.5 weeks after Tectronics dual mode PM install. Was told it was a rate responsive model. I have total AV block, so my PM is totally pacing my ventricles. All is good doing things around the house, my HR increases as expected. Last week I did a trial walk in my neighborhood.
