To all the wonderful members of this organization,
I've been a member for less than a month and I really enjoy all the postings, but I respond only when I have some relevant input. Usually, I look for the posters profile and then send a private message...unless I think I have some nugget of information from which all could benefit.
I have always been a very active individual and I don't plan on something that will prolong that lifestlyle (i.e. a PM) from doing anything but...
Questioning the use of a second pacemaker

Hi everyone
After having a PM for some 17 years, it was decided to change the device, (not because it needed it because of the battery) but because the hospital did not like a pm in situ for that long.
The old one had just 1 lead, this new one has two leads.
They did not take the old lead out because they said it was too dangerous, infection might set it, burst arteries etc.
What happens if i need another pm, i already have 3 wires in situ now and i should imagine not much s...

Removal of an ICD
Hi, I am new to this pacemaker club and hopefully some one can answer my question. My physician has informed me that effective Jan. 2008 he will remove my ICD.
Now the question can anyody give me information on the affects and problems once the ICD is removed?
Thanks, Barbara

I just received my St. Jude Zephyr PM 2 days ago, home from the hospital yesterday afternoon, all seemed well. However, before I went to bed last night I noticed a tightness/soreness in my neck and throat. I awakened several hours later with a fair amount of discomfort, able to take a deep breath but felt pain and pressure while doing so. No lung or chest pain, just this feeling in my neck area. Never had this sensation prior to PM implant....might be coincidental but I am concerned enough t...

Hello everyone!
I had my pacemaker replaced on Oct-30-07. It was upgraded from a dual to a Biventricular Pacemakers by Guidant. And I am not doing well at all. Right after the replacement I started getting chest pains. It is not only a pain but I feel tightness and pressure in my chest and in my trough at the same time. At first I thought that probably the settings just needs to be adjusted at that new pacer. After calling that electrophysiologyst who did that surgery I was told that my new...

Just wanted to say something about the Chat Room here....
The chat room is fun.... not one of us is going to critique the other in a chat room. Letters are left out, words are mangled and lots of just plain old miss-spellings go on there..... On the other hand, Peter, you get to have a chance to have a "real" conversation. Who cares about the way any of us type when we are chatting. Allow yourself to try it out.... you just might be surprised! This suggestion goes for everyone ;-)...

I would like to ask a question.... when I am online I sometimes see my username in the "Who's on line" Sometimes I don't. Blake has recently shared with me that he is working on it.
Here is my question:
What is the highest number for visitors at any time here at the Pacemaker Club site?
Last night it was at 342! That's a lot of people who are interested in reading what we write.

hey all,
Wide awake at 4 am here on the east coast US. Been having problems intermitantly with pacer capture since it was put in last monday. thursday they increased my output from 3.5 to 6 but still was having problems with capture. It was amazing how quickly I could feel symptomatic with the drops it was almost instantly cold, nauseous etc. Anyway had to have my wired readjusted last night. This time I was no brave girl and got lots of drugs! More sore this time but I don't care as long...

I saw a post a few days ago that pointed out that drinking too much water could be detrimental. My electrophysiologist told me this upfront when I received my Pacemaker. Now again everyone is different and diets are different for everybody. In my case however he told me to stay hydrated for my condition which is Vasovagal Syncope. He also said I needed to keep up my electrolytes. Water is good but too much water washes out electrolytes so it was his suggestion to drink Gatorade or Power aid. Thi...

Hi; I am new at this. I had received this CYLOS DR-T pacemaker. Also some of the record describe the pacemaker as DDDR. No one has ever explained anything to me, including the physician as to the selection of pacemaker and what one should know or do. I do not feel any different than before having this device..
Any one have any information on how they work and why the different titles. My card reads the cyclops but the doctor records say DDDR. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank You....

Hi
When I have a Telephone pacer check can anyone tell me exactly what they read on the other end of the phone?
Battery Life?
Rhythm Check?
Is this sent to and read by a Dr. or is it just the pacer nurse who reads it?
Any help is appreciated.........Thanks.

I attended a Medtronics seminar at the local hospital yesterday evening. The meeting was a result of the re-call notice on four models of the Sprint Fidelis leads.
The company and the docs all admit that there could be a problem with the leads cracking, but there doesnt seem to be anything really conclusive at this time. The recall is reported completely voluntary.
For those in attendance who were interested, they re-set the sensitivity of our ICD so that the audible will...

Hi y'all. I am normally a lurker here and have gained so much from reading what you all share with each other and now I am hoping someone can help me out.
I was just officially diagnosed with sarcoidosis. Apparently this is what caused me to have complete heart block and caused me to have to have a pacemaker. So I guess it affected my heart as well as my lungs at this point. Anyway.... My pulmonolgist and cardiologist have been working together and have concluded that I will start...

I had no idea just how expensive PM's were!!! Just received my hospital bill today. All I can say, is that we pacers are worth a bundle now.....not just the mere 98 cents that my childhood science teacher told us our body components were really worth!
However, I guess you really can't put a price on quality of lfe, which our PM's give to many of us.
My posting is really just a knee-jerk reaction to my bill, thank goodness for insurance. Hope this posting finds everyone in the...
