Hi
When I have a Telephone pacer check can anyone tell me exactly what they read on the other end of the phone?
Battery Life?
Rhythm Check?
Is this sent to and read by a Dr. or is it just the pacer nurse who reads it?
Any help is appreciated.........Thanks.
Riley

I believe they run a pacemaker EKG strip. When you place the magnet on the pacer they can check battery life by measuring the difference in time between the pacer spikes.
Mine is also always read by a doctor.
Hope this helps.
Best to you,

I may have a cheaper phone check than most, but I am told the heart rate before the magnet, the heart rate with the magnet, and the heart rate after the magnet. I'm almost sure this information is sent to my cardiologist. I know from personal experience the battery life prediction is not very reliable. Within a week after my phone check, my pacemaker went into a maintenance or standby (?) mode and I was not given any warning. I almost passed out while on a treadmill, and I had no idea what had happened. It was just time for my batter to be changed and the phone was a waste of time (and someone's money) - IMHO. I'm sure in most cases, the procedure is of more value, especially if EKG strips are being generated in some manner.
Best of luck!
Jerry

In fact after the final "tweaks" of my pacemaker programming at the one year check up it is working so well that I forget I have it.

My phone check is done by a pacer nurse and they do the EKG and the battery life. The results are sent to the MD.
