Actually VAT can be claimed in the UK if you have a pacemaker , but only if the purchase is relavant to the pacemaker. Can't think of anything that could be relavant though apart from perhaps medical alert jewellery. Worth asking

I'm so thankful to find this forum, 16 days after getting a pacemaker to resolve swallow syncope. I noticed feeling faint while eating/drinking and a 5-second AV block was fortunately captured by the Holter monitor. It is shocking to need a dual lead pacemaker for a perfectly healthy heart. But I am so thankful that it was caught early before I actually started having blackouts and injury.
I'm relieved to hear that still having pain, 2 weeks post-op is not unusual. But is i...

It's been 2 years since I've been diagnosed and have received my ICD/Pacemaker. Would like to talk to a few others about the condition. Upkeep, ways to deal with anxiety, compare doctors orders and such. Haven't found any support groups or even other people with it so would be nice to hear from others with the same condition.
I challenge you...

I always make a point of countering the post op pictures in the gallery with pictures of being active, of leading a perfectly normal life. But right now most of them are me so help me out and add yours. Show us what you do for fun, fueled by your pacer.
p.s. the other pictures are ok too, no need to stop posting them! Not being critical, just encouraging more happy pictures.

I am not quite three weeks out from CRT-D implantation. I wasn't able to take any painkillers except day of surgery, and this one has been a bit more painful than my first device, so I only have been able to raise my left arm well this week. Noticed a hard lump in the left underarm; I don't think it was there before the surgery. No pain from it; just an exeedingly mild ache after showering with, of course, warm water.
Has anyone experienced anything like t...

If the pacemaker is for non reversable case it is allowed. But I have been on sotalol since 1980s. This is not really reversable bur Menicare considers it to be reversable so no dice.

Medicare does not allow a pacemaker for type two heart blocks , Say I bought the pacemaker myself. Almost all cardiologists depend on a medicare practice and will lose their ability to have medicare if they proceed with such a pacemaker, purchased by the patient.
How can one get around this problem?

Im 26 yeara old, I've had my ICD for 20 months now, since having the icd I have had problem after problem,
1 Month after surgery I got a blood clot in the lung, followed by a heart attack.
4 months post surgery I got another blood clot which blocked most blood flow to my left arm, which is now in constant pain, I can't hold anything longer then 10 seconds or my arm gets very weak and swollen (yes I still have the clot there, doctors say it will never desolve)

Since having PM implanted end of Aug. I now either have a cold for the first time in over 10 years or reaction to something in the air. I do live along the coast in Fl.,where we have the bloomin Red Tide. Which is a killer if you have breathing problems. Which i do not.
Am now wondering if the PM is causing me to react to what ever is in the air. Have been taking my allergy supplement now, which lasts 3 hours before the s...

Is anyone taking blood thinners. I was recently told by my pacemaker/defibrillator reading said I had an Afib episode. Very upset and disappointed because I have a pacemaker and did not think that could happen. Thoughts? Comments?

I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and need to get an MRI. I have a dual chamber pacemaker that's MRI capatible but am still a little nervous. I have no problems being in the machine. It's just the thought of all those magnets around me. Does anyone want to share their experience? I'm aware that the MRI feature needs to be turned on first.

I had my pm placed in February of this year and all has been going well. I noticed today that I have bruising and significant swelling over the insertion site. I have not done any lifting or any activity which would explain this. I do not have a fever but it is very tender. Is this cause for concern?
Thanks

Hi,
I am hoping someone can help me figure out what’s going on. I had my PM implanted on Sept 12, 2019. During the procedure I was under conscious sedation and fell asleep, only to be awakened due to excruciating pain in the right side of my chest. The docs were unable to tell me why I was having so much pain, and in the meantime I could hear them saying that they were having trouble with stopping the bleeding and that the leads needed to be redone. I then fell back to sleep...

I'm 35 and got my pacemaker a little over a year ago. It definitely is not a burden to me. In fact, I have more energy (which my husband enjoys), can do more things with my kids and have weight because of having the energy.
