When I try to respond to a post, I wish I could do so with the actual post showing. Anyway, I'm glad to hear that the test results showed a problem. I think when you next see your cardiologist, you should ask for an apology. Now don't expect one, but point out that how you were feeling was due to a Vit D deficiency. My 38-year-old daughter is having some health issues and just got off of wearing a heart monitor for two weeks to check why she is having chest pains, dizziness, fatigue, tinglin...

I was a bit concerned about the heart rates you were mentioning. I've never heard of any PM being set to lower than 60 bpm. Like you, I had Bradycardia with low heart rate. My St.Jude PM was set to 60. Also, if my heart rate rises, the PM lowers it (as I understand). Otherwise, everything else sounds normal. It has only been 3-1/2 weeks since your implant. You should feel a bit better each day. And yes, it is a bummer that you can't raise your elbow above your shoulder for the first six...

Had dual chamber PM inserted on 5th August this year for bradycardia, syncope and sinus arrest.
For 2 months Before surgery HR was regularly at 40-44 BPM having been at 58-60 for years. Felt dizzy, light-headed and fatigued and had 2 significant blackouts.
Since surgery resting HR is 54-56 feel so much better and no dizzy spells at all. Bit confused as to how as believe I have Boston PM which should rapidly raise my HR to 160 if it drops below 50 but somehow seems to have d...

My cardiologist had me come in for a checkup after the first week.
My surgery was 23 July and my appointment was on 30 July. I also was told to make an appointment to see my primary physician within 7 to 10 days. This is requested anytime a patient has been hospitalized. I did go to my primary, but now wish I had made it for two to three weeks after the surgery. Anyway, I am a bit surprised that you were told to wait just over two weeks. However, this time frame may work out as it shou...

Before had the PC placed, my bp was running 180-200/90-100
in the am on awakening. Since placement last Monday, BP has been going down every day and I'm having to adjust meds
daily. Didn't know for sure if PC and BP effect each other but it
sure looks like it does. My heartrate at night was going down to the high 30s. Now the PC is set on 60. Yesterday, BP went down to 100/45 and I became very week and still feel a little weak. Hopefully, as time goes on, I'll gain my st...

Hi! I got a pm on 8/7. I am a pretty active person and am having difficulty with inactivity. I have to wear a sling a lot to keep myself from unconsciously using my left arm too much. I do take it off and do a lot of arm exercise every 1/2 hour or so.
I have forgotten a few times to wear the sling at night. Once, I was taking a shirt off with help and my arm got raised up by accident. I am not lifting anything with the arm.
My question is, at 18 days later, how should I be reacting t...

Just had a pacemaker implanted. What do you recommend to help remove the surgery scar? The RN said Vitamin E, I've heard Cocoa Butter.

So, is the a user unfriendly site or what? I've tried everything to respond to the replies I received from my post yesterday. Kathy, thank you (and others) for your response and concern. I am 65 years old, and I thought I was in pretty good health except for my low heart rate. A new medication caused so many side effects that my primary decided he could no longer wait and referred me to a cardiologist. This lead to a stress test, heart cath, and wearing a zio heart monitor for one week. Th...

Had pacemaker put in 2 weeks ago. Have soreness across the whole chest. Pain goes from front to back in middle of my chest.
Also it is painful when I take a deep breath. Feels like the pain when I breath comes from my lungs.
Has anybody felt like this? I have an appointment in 4 days.

I had my St. Jude pacemaker implanted on 23 July 2013. My device was implanted on my right side due to some recent right ear hearing loss, and the fact that they advise using holding a cell phone up to the opposite ear. So, even though I am right handed, I had them implant on that side so I can use my cell phone on my left ear. I didn't feel as though I was given any real details as to what to watch out for or expect during recovery. Earlier this week, I experienced a sharp throbbing pain ne...

My husband will have his PM/Defib replaced with a new one this Thursday. Will he feel as good as he felt when he got the first one in?
He has slowed down quite a bit more than I ever thought he would. His dementia do to the strokes has not helped him.
Anyone else suffering from dementia do to stokes and or very low BP/P?
A concerned wife. Thanks for listening.
Did you feel different after PM was turned on?

Hi Everyone,
I'm new here, although I have had complete heart block my entire life (diagnosed before I was born) and have known since I was a child that I would eventually get a pacemaker. As it turned out, that day has come a lot later than expected -I am 28 and only now am I booked in to have my pacemaker implanted in about a month's time. The reason I am now getting a pacemaker when I've gone without for so long, is that all of my doctors agree that I need to get a pacemaker befo...

Hi Folks, two days ago I posted that I was a bit anxiously waiting for today to have my pacer of 8 years replaced. Yes, I put up a good front for the hubby and kids, all the grandkids visited over the weekend and there were endless emails and phone calls. I even got flowers! Well I'm happy to report that it was one of the most positive, encouraging experiences of my pacemaker life.
It was a long day, had to be there for 10:00, the doctor had a long case ahead of me so I didn't get done u...

Hi guys, tomorrow, Monday the 19th, I'm having my pacer of 8 years replaced. I went in for my normal yearly office visit in addition to my 3 month telephone checks to find out that I had a whopping 3 months left of battery life on my pacemaker. I assumed they would want to change it out the next week, but oh no, they want to eek out every molecule of juice out of the battery so they would do a monthly telephone check instead of the 3 month and hope to catch it before it crashes in between one...

Hi, has anyone had an ablation for sinus node disease, my child has this plus svt, vt, pathway mediations, bigeminy...currently on flecainide and bisoprolol but has breakthrough of any of the above arrhythmias. Just wondering if anyone can share similar experience inparticular for sinus node disease. She also has a dual pacemaker. I have a lot of concerns about ablation as she has so many arrhythmias.

I am having my pacemaker procedure done on Aug 19. I read through a lot of posts about recovery. My doctor did not give much guidance. I have an office job and sit at a computer all day. It was hard to tell people's occupations when they say how long they were out of work for recovery. Anyone with a desk job can tell me about your recovery?
Thanks
