recovery period

I am having my pacemaker procedure done on Aug 19. I read through a lot of posts about recovery. My doctor did not give much guidance. I have an office job and sit at a computer all day. It was hard to tell people's occupations when they say how long they were out of work for recovery. Anyone with a desk job can tell me about your recovery?

Thanks

There's no reason you can't go to the game! Maybe go a little late to avoid the crowds getting in, leave a little early for the same reason and also because you'll probably be tired. A trick I used, put the sling on when in crowded places, people are more likely to be careful around you and not jostle you. They normally have us in a sling the first day or two, after that it's not a good idea because you don't want to restrict arm movement too much, but it comes in handy sometimes.

It's hard to predict! We are all different. Assuming you are otherwise healthy and there are no complications and your job is not physical, a week or so is average. I was mostly back to normal routine by the end of a week, just moving more slowly than usual and taking naps more often. I was extra tired and napped a lot for a month.

Hi Frankc,

I agree w/TraceyE. We are all different. I took two weeks off and I like TraceyE, felt pretty good after about a week. I'm glad that I took off two weeks becasue I was very tired and sore. I have a desk job too. I did well my first day except that my left should and neck got so tight and stiff. I think its just the sitting and typing and not being able to raise my arm yet. I hope this helps.

Like TraceyE and Acin said, everyone recovers differently. However, imho, you should give yourself enough time to heal properly... I had some complications and was out longer than expected, but just take it slowly at first and try to keep a positive attitude... so, good luck with everything... sit back... relax... watch some Packers games... :)
welcome to the club...

I will take it easy btu I also have Packer tickets for the game Aug 23. Sounds like I would be pushing it to do that
