CRT-D

I have a CRT-D with an Ef of now 45% ... I walk 1-2 miles every morning on a flat track. My problem is when I get home I am totally exhausted and want to sleep. Sometimes I nap for 30 minutes early afternoon,, but again at around 7 pm I am wiped out. When I go to bed at night I am asleep within a couple of minutes. Any advice.

Thanks

Weight lifting

I am 73 year old with early onset Parkinson's, had vasovagal syncope episodes and my physician believed a pacemaker was the course of treatment.
I had my pacemaker inserted about 1 1/2 years ago. Three
months after it rotated and the leads coiled, they tell me it is ok. I have been receiving PT at home for several months and my therapist suggest joining a gym. Can anyone advise me on what exercises to avoid and how much weight is safe to lift.

Everyone Into the Pool

I am approaching 5-weeks post procedure. Have a device checkup next week. I'm hoping to be able to get back in the pool. Anyone out there a swimmer and if so, how long after your procedure were you able to swim again. I've taken up brisk walking/jogging, but really miss the water. I'd appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

Exercise and near syncope

Hi, I am struggling to understand what happens (occasionally) when I exercise. It appears that when my heart rate exceeds the pre-programmed upper limit (170bpm) and I literally collapse. (I get an immediate feeling of being cold, short-of-breath, weakness, heaviness, and have either passed-out or come in-and-out of consciousness over a few minutes.). I understand that the ventricular rate drops by half if I exceed the upper limit. What I need to understand further is - is this situation danger...

TomTom Multisport for sale

Not sure if there is a rule on here or not for selling things, but I bought this device because I got a PM and my current heart rate monitor wasn't working with it. This watch has optical heart rate recognition in it done at the wrist. It works well actually and I think there have been a number of posts in this section regarding these and other devices people are using.

It is not a great fit for people with big wrists, which apparently I have??? There is not a lot of slack on the end...

Exercise

I am 17 and im not the most fit person but im definitely not incredibly unfit either, i'd say im quite average for someone of my age, i am a healthy weight, i do some exercise and i have a fairly balanced diet. I have been noticing when i do a sudden unexpected exercise for example climbing flights of stairs quickly, or running for a bus i sometimes feel very out of breath and a bit shaky. I feel it may be to do with my heart rate speeding up too quickly and that makes it harder when i start off...

NEW AT THIS :)

Hi! I'm a 25 year old who has congenital heart block and underwent PPM. I've had my Medtronic dual chamber pacemaker for a week now. My doctor says I can't have extreme arm movements as of now because my body is still healing.
I feel like I've gained weight because of just sitting or sleeping around the house for a week. I'd love to exercise (dancing and work out videos or jogging) again but I'm too scared to move with strenuous activities.

I have a few questions:
1. How l...

This is a good place

Hello
I got my PM today! I am a PE teacher in sweden with an activ lifestyle.

When I tech the kids how to stand on their hands or play volleyball, thats when I'm happy at work.
When I swim k after k in open water or when I'm kayaking in the archipelago of Stockholm, thats when I'm really at peace with myself.

When searching the web for info on my possibilities to go on with my life as before, this forum came up almost everytime.
This forum made it easier for...

bigeminy

Just looking for advice.
Had PM for 2 years and for the first 18months and was going well with plenty of exercise apart from funny feelings when relaxed. The funny feelings have got worse and now get out of breath and light headed. Apparently I have Bigeminy beats and it is making me useless . What can be done to stop it? I have a Boston CRTD 4.
Thanks mg

Swelling after Exercise

Hi, I had my first dual chamber PM fitted in Feb, i'm 33yr old women, heavily into sports, running, cycle, weights, etc (yep i'm a total gym freak!). I've noticed I randomly get swelling around the PM and leads up to my collarbone, not from any particular sports, although i'm training for Duathlon at the mo, so I am training more than normal. Do other people get this? I take ibrupeon and that seems to help but its not a long term answer, i'm going for a routine checkup in two weeks and thinking...

my cardiologist tried to convince me that what i was experiencing was expected ..normal recovery behavior. but i’d spent much of my waking hours (and sleeping one too) trying to find out why i could not walk w.o. a racing pulse and therefor chest pain, while neither occurred with strenuous cycling. he said “different muscles” i knew that was a load. with heart issues i’d get angina on the bike too ...”i’ve had patients with similar ... takes time ...” didn't ring true...

Doubling

Hi new address from old member, some reason I can't get on with old password. Anyhow a little background have had pacer for 8.5 years. I have had problem with heart monitor showing double the actual hr,well not a problem a nuisance. I discovered that if, when it occurs, I press on either l or r carotid as if checking pulse, hold it not real hard! And watch the h r slowly drop back to normal. When I release it slowly goes back up to double. After several times then it will stay at normal. Intere...

Marathons and MS Bike Challenges

It's been a few years since I've been back to the site. I'm on my third PM. Have run three marathons, two Boston Marathons; two last year in 2014 ( Boston and Newport with my kids.) Taking up road cycling and rode the 175 mi MS Bike Challenge this July '15. In the past 19 mos. have logged over 2800 miles riding or running. So don't get it in your mind that having a PM should hold you back. Playing in an alumni lacrosse game this October at Bates college against one of my sons ( also an alum...
