Golf

hello all, I am very new to this site. My defibrillator has been in now for four weeks, I was just wondering how long before I could go back to playing golf, and exercising again.

Have you been given the OK to operate an automobile yet ? Golf putting, is, IMO easier , BUT the 400 yard drives ....
Your cardiologist should have given you instructions , in plain, but definite English .. Mine did not either .. I am learning to accept LESS from the medical profession .

I'm not a golfer but there have been quite a few posts on the forum with golfers giving suggested times. Go to the search button on the upper right corner of the forum and use "gold" (without the quotes) in the search. It will pull up a lot of stuff.

One person offered the following: "I have read on this site of people restarting golf anywhere between 4 and 12 weeks with most being at least 6 weeks."

Everyone has indicated you start out working on your putting game - everyone needs to work on that anyway. Then light swings, then working up to harder swings.

You probably won't pull a lead or leads, but you can really stretch the scar tissue. I can tell you from experience it hurts like hell when you do that.

You also don't want to do anything that would break open the PM insertion wound. That can lead to a serious infection with a long hospital stay. So probably nothing but putting until the PM wound heals.

Against the bad things that can happen, being out of your golf game for a few weeks is no big deal.

Hope everything goes well for you.

You know you're wired when...

A thirty-day guarantee is not good enough.

I just want to share about the quality of life after my pacemaker, and hopefully increase awareness that lifestyles do not have to be drastically modified just because we are pacemaker recipients.
