My husband is really sick.. He is normally a very active man, but since his pacemaker, supposedly the batteries, went belly up, and then he had another unit put in, he has been tired, sleeps all of the time, has no energy.
He had a medtronic put in in 2012 and it really seemed to help. About three years ago he had to have a new valve put in.. sorry if I am not to educated on the subject, but the doctors are always in such a rush and after they whoosh away I sit there and wish I could ha...

I am very large chested and am worried about disturbing the placement of my pacemaker and leads once i put a bra back on for the first time as I have heavy breasts and the placement of them is much higher on my chest when wearing a bra. Im not sure if the dr took this into account since i was braless at the hospital and they were much lower and out of the way during surgery. Please let me know if you have any experience from this dilemma. Ty

I recieved a new pacemaker last week because my previous one (of 10 yrs.) was just too irritating. I'm thin and the connectors ends would feel like they were poking through my skin. It was implanted slightly higher than normal. My new Dr. agreed to replant a new one, slightly smaller than the current one and put it a bit further down and also suggested using a pouch to pad it since I am thin. OK, its only been 11 days but this thing is so bulky. I think he implanted on...

Just got my 1st PM (a Medtronic Azure XT DR MRI SureScan to prevent sudden cardiac arrest from Carotid Sinus Hypersensitivity.
This is a relatively rare condition most affecting aging males that is beginning to get more attention as the Boomers age. But there are lots of unanswered questions.
Anyone out there with the condition and experience who would like to chat? I have some info and some questions. Using the search tool for the subject, I found only two souls...

Today is 1 week post crt-d implant. Healing has been steady and on track.
Today I had a really fast sharp pain that felt like it originated in the center of my chest and shot across my right upper chest and then it was gone. It lasted all of 1-2 seconds. No other symptoms noted.
I'm thinking maybe it was a muscle spasm or part of the healing process. But my mind goes into overdrive and I start to panic and think the worst...Does this sound like anything serious???

At the age of 69, I had a Biotronik dual chamber Pacemaker implanted about 10 months ago. Every night at around 11.00pm, I feel a sensation in the region of my Pacemaker which lasts for about 5 seconds. The Pacing technician at my hospital advised that this is most likely to be the pre-programmed impedence testing by the Pacemaker. He said not all Pacemaker receipients feel the daily test.
Has anyone else experieced this sensation and if so can they share their understan...

I love my Cardiology team. Actually interviewed them for the position 12.5 years ago and been with them ever since. Their philosophy and approach matched my goals, ie quality over quantity. Never regretted the decision but recently I've begin to wonder if my best interests are still number one.
During a recent visit, I discovered the office had a pool going on when I would finally give up. Here's the kicker that really concerns me...they won't let me get into the pool. They...

Hi, I am 42 F and am due to have a pacemaker fitted in 3 weeks. I’ve always had a low HR, currently resting rate is 42-44 with dips to 35. Top end Hr can go above 200 when exercising. When it drops below 40 I sometimes feel dizzy, not always. I’ve fainted maybe 4 times in my life, usually when I am ill.
My Cardiologist thinks I need a pacemaker, but is a little concerned about my age. I am not convinced. I’ve never known any different so I can only see t...

Hi Guys,
I'm 27 years old and am due to have an ICD fitted in 48 hours. My anxiety levels are through the roof and made worse by the fact my farther passed away from the same condition at a young age.
Does anyone have any advice for how to deal with this anxiety, perhaps subject focused books, videos etc ?
Additional does anyone have any recommendations for the recovery period. I'm very active and would like to be out walking and perhaps on an exerc...

I'm intending to get a medic alert 'thingie' -- I reckon the combination of 100% PM dependent + anaphylaxis of unknown origin with Epipen + rivaroxaban + Advance Decision makes it sensible. (Might also add in some stuff about MRI with the PM if I can ever get a straight answer about it... Yes/No/Maybe doesn't really cut it but I'll ask a separate question about that.)
My dilemma: I've been told that wearing the alert on the wrist is the best option and to be fran...

I'm sure some others here have contemplated their eventual demise so maybe this will benefit others.
Since I have no prior experience with dying personally, a lot of questions about the forthcoming adventure are arising. Anybody have answers?
- how long do I have to live with dying
- will my Merlin monitor work from where I'm headed
- is this a one way ticket
- can I get an upgrade to first class
- is there a charge for being overweight
- what...

I have just bought a Philips Sonicare toothbrush. On reading the instructions I was startled discover that I should cntact my 'physician' or the manufacturer before use.
This is because it has an elctromagnetic field.
I am a bit annoyed that this was not mentioned on the website from which I bought it (Amazon) .
Has anyone else got one of these items and what did your physician or manufacturer say if you contacted them?&...

hi, I have just had a pacemaker fitted on Tuesday and sent home yesterday. It all happened very quickly as I was diagnosed with heart block and admitted urgently for this as I had 2 blackouts, dizzy every day and breathless. I didn't know anything about pacemakers before and so don't know what is 'normal' after surgery, or something I need to call the doctor about.
In the past I suffered slightly from sleep apnea [not diagnosed but my husband noted the s...
