Posts about possible infections

There have been several posts about infections, or possible infections, to wound sites recently, and I wondered what people were told to do when they had their surgery?  I had my pacemaker inserted as a result of complications when I had a replacement heart valve fitted, and so admittedly I had an 8" (200mm) long scar down my chest to be concerned about as well as the little pacemaker incision, but I was told that my biggest risk at home was infection.

pacemaker lead replacement

I had a lead replaced for the second time after it came out.  I waited 7 months.  They have now found bacteria on the lead which was extracted.  Is this serious.  I am to have blood tests in two weeks time.  Has this happened to anyone else and what happens if blood test shows signs of this bacteria.

Placement

It appears that first my cardiologist put my pacemaker into my breast tissue. Then 2 weeks after my surgery it flippled over up and down ways. It is still in the pocket though. He doesn't want to move it due to complications with infection. I would like to get a second opinion on this. Can anyone recomend what kind of doctor I would see. Not sure if a general surgeon or another cardiologist? I'm just not sure. Has anyone had this happen to them?

Peripheral neuropathy like symptoms after PM

Hi Everyone!

I received my PM in October 2017, I’m bradycardia and the pm has been a Godsend. However, shortly after my implant I started experiencing numbness on the soles of my feet, which has evolved into pretty severe burning sensation all over my feet and lower legs. It mimics peripheral neuropathy. I’ve now been tested for a wide array of sinister possible causes but so far we have been unable to dx my problem.

Loose lead

Saturday my mom got her PM at age 80. Today she visited her Cardiologist because she wasn't feeling well.

Dr. said  one of the leads had gotten a little loose but nothing to be alarmed. He opted to monitor her closely and have a chest X-Ray to better see how loose the lead is. He also said surgery might not be necessary because these things can occur. 

I don't know. Will just have to wait for her chest X-Ray.

Pain 5 weeks post PM

Hello,

 I had a PM put in April 23rd, right out of the Cath lab  when meds wore off I had the most God awful pain,  & red hot burning from armpit to elbow and into hand. Thumb, pinky and ring finger were tingling.  Nurse responded "no one has pain from pacemaker- this is really unusual.  Omg I was so upset, I kept telling her I thought it felt like nerve pain because I had an ulnar nerve injury in right arm in 2010. Rashes 9 months after Pacemaker

I got my pacemaker over 2 years ago, about 9 months after I started getting rashes. First starting around my pacemaker incision and now moving throughout my body, even on my face. It starts as a red rash and gets darker and darker. It has now been going on for over a year. I've been tested for allergies and results show I am not allergic to anything. I was at my GP today who wants to put me on antidepressants.  So my cardiologist wont see me until 21st June despite fainting x2 after getting PM 23/4/18. I am concerned re my job, they put by accident that I have had a quadruple bypass on my notes.

PaceMaker Shocks

Experiencing small electrical impulses about 10-25 seconds apart with my pace maker. On week five post surgery and did not experience this sensation before. It is almost like a light shock bottom left of pacemaker. Very annoying. Should I be concerned? Start out as an minor irritant and now is much stronger over a few hours. Abscess at incision site after 1&1/2 months after implnt

Has anybody had this problem where the abscess was not found until 1&1/2 months later? What was your treatment and did you have to have the pacemaker removed & then replaced after the infection was cured?

Weak legs

I had pacemaker implant about 5 weeks ago because of low heart rate. Ever since then I have had extreme weakness in both legs every day while standing or walking. My quality of life has only gone downhill since then because of this problem. Has anyone else experienced this problem after pm implant.

Regular Shocks

I suffered from consistent disturbing electrical shocks like clockwork daily and hourly at my sternum after the placement of my pacemaker in. ( lower heart area ) for more than a year. My cardiologist kept telling me throught the year that it is all in my head. I insisted on a check by the St Jude's tech. They found issues. L311 pacemaker

Spasms at heart

Hello everyone. Thought I'd give this a shot at the recommendation of my wife cause I've been having some slight issues since my surgery on December 18th 2017.  I've been back to my cardiologist about 6-7 times since then for one checkup post-op and the rest for reprogramming.  I've had issues of feeling flutters or spasms at or right near my heart that takes my breath and makes me really dizzy to actually passing out.  I've had near 8-10 episodes of syncope...

Felt PVC's

Had the reimplant after complications on Feb 6th of this year. Initially great, two weeks in started having a lof of PVC's (900 in two weeks time), then again at six weeks, and now "again" the last two days. Sometimes the are a small flutter feeling, other times it's like a grip and squeeze sensation that lasts a whole second followed by heart rate increase and a warming sensation around my heart.

Theme park Rides need your feedback please

Pacemaker since 07 I'm on my 2 pacemaker I suffer from anxiety as well. My dr has told me that my heart is working fine no ,restrictions dont know what he means...by that ...anyway why do all theme parks have the safety warnings with like you should not ride heart conditions?  Has anyone here gone into rides? I feel mu pulse changing the last time I got into a ride ..I just want to make sure my heart will be ok during the rides I miss going with my kids...please help

Post Surgery Issues

I’m 40 and got my pacemaker a month ago. I have went from sinus brah. to tachycardia. My blood pressure goes from high to low, pulse rates of 125-150 sitting down. Doctor have checked everything out and indicate pacemaker is fine. Pacing 30% of the time. Soreness around Pacemaker area

I have had my CRT-d for 7 years now and knock on wood nothing had happened since. Until now. about a week ago I started feeling soreness and like heaviness in that area. I sort of played it off as I might have pulled a muscle in that area. After a week I emailed my cardioligist and was told to make an appointment. permanent pacemaker

Hi I have had a permanent pacemaker for two years now and I had a A V Node ablation in February 2018.

I am experiencing an abnormal heart rhythm when I have the pacemaker checked also I can feel it in my chest.

Does any other member experience the same symptons,I would appreciate your comments.
