PaceMaker Shocks

Experiencing small electrical impulses about 10-25 seconds apart with my pace maker. On week five post surgery and did not experience this sensation before. It is almost like a light shock bottom left of pacemaker. Very annoying. Should I be concerned? Start out as an minor irritant and now is much stronger over a few hours. New to this pace maker life style wondered if anyone had this before? Do not know if it is a wire or nerve issue. My pace maker was for an AV node issue not a ICD problem.

Unipolar?

This may not be your situation, but if for any reason your pacemaker is programed to "unipolar" the pacemaker becomes the return path for current. Ask your doctor if this is the case and if you could be experiencing nerve stimulation in the pocket.

Healing

I agree with Robin1.

Nerves have been cut in order to put in your pacemaker and they can give 'weird' feelings as they heal.

Give yourself six months for all the quirks to heal, you may still have some mild discomfort at the site but in a year, you will forget you even have one.

All the best,
