Day 1 with Apple Watch 4

So, I got a new toy yesterday. Yay, I love toys!

I've never had a heart rate monitor that works so this is a whole new world for me. It seems to be pretty accurate sitting still but said my hour at the gym this morning was 7 minutes with an average heart rate of 110. It was 150 or thereabouts both times I counted. I counted manually because I was prettty sure the 110 it was telling me was not accurate! Best I can tell it has to be over 120 to count as an exercise minute? I don't...

I'm not convinced I needed this pacemaker

Excuse the legth of this post. But it is a story that began in February with the implantation of a St. Jude pacemaker based on a misdiagnosis of Sick Sinus Syndrome (SSS). I want to know if anyone can help me sort through the things I know and don't know.

In Early February of 2018, I went to the emergency room with a bouncing heart reat -- not racing and not bradycardia. The rate just bounced around. I am a 57-year-old active male. The erratic beats came on a Sunday evening after a...

I recently had a fainting episode and thru further investigations, was diagnosed with a 2nd Degree Morbitz I AV block thru a 24 hr Holter device.   At first I was advised that I needed a Pacemaker, and was refered to another Cardiologist who specialized in Pacemakers.  After getting a second opinion I ha...

6 weeks Post-op, Insurance denied over 1/2 of hospital claim

Glad to have found this forum, reading the messages, questions and answers has been helpful.  I was one of the those who had been feeling "not myself " for about 9 months.  Had one episode of near passing out last year in Nov. went to Dr. they ran a few labs, thought BP was low, so cut BP med in half, for the next few months just felt off, frequent episodes of feeling lightheaded.  Last of July early August noticed increase in shortness of breath, while having O2 satu...

New member concerns micro medtronic leadless pacemaker

Hello, I am a new member and expecting a Micro Medtronics leadless pacemaker the first part of October.  I have an aortic valve leakage that is livable.  I also have tachycardia bradycardia syndrome with several pauses during the day and night. The high episodes have become more frequent (and scary) and the doctor cannot put me on any more medication to control the highs.  To control the highs I need more medicine but if I take it, my heart rate drops below 40. The doctor said...

Eliquis & depression?

Hi PM Club family,

Has anyone ever experienced nasty side effects from Eliquis involving depression, extreme fatigue, pretty much being close to cracking at any point/bursting out in tears for no good reason - or sometimes just feeling numb to everything and everybody around you?

I’m currently on 5mg twice a day for a partial subclavial thrombosis, was told to be on it for a month but i’m already losing it after 10 days. I was as happy as a cla...

A question

They say that time is a great healer  . Is that why you've got to wait so long to see your doctor ?

Bariatric surgery after long term prednisone use - experiences/advice?

Hi everyone,

As anyone who has been on long term prednisone knows, they give you your prescription and throw in 10 buckets of free fat!  Woo (not).

I've been on prednisone for the last 3 years since getting my pacemaker and being diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder.  In that time my weight has almost doubled, I've developed sleep apnoea, lost my hair, I now suffer from severe joint pain, high cholesterol, questionable blood sugar levels, and I'm very se...

Lyme Disease

Has anyone been told that they may have lyme disease and that could be the cause of their heart issues? I went from having tachycardia arthmyia from 1999 till about July of this year. Since July I have been dealing with bradicardia instead. Some reason when I got sick in july, my heart rythm changed. Back in 2009 I had a tick on my belly that was almost buried in my skin. My MIL had pulled it out. Far as I know that head was not in. I wasnt showing any symptoms of lyme and I researched them....

Aspirin

News item late this afternoon:  Use of low dose aspirin in a 70+ year old - who has no history of a heart attack - is of no benefit and may cause harm.  This news item suggested "low dose" would be 100 mg ------really? I don't use aspirin but I recall its low dose to be 15mg?  In any event remember, aspirin is not an anticoagulant - which increases your PTT.  Aspirin is an anti-platelet that helps thwart platelets from "clumping."

FDA to bolster cybersecurity of medical devices

http://www.startribune.com/fda-to-bolster-cybersecurity-of-medical-devices/492913731/

Don't let your imagination run away with you! This is all preventative and hypothetical. The article says "there’s never been a documented computer attack on a medical device that led to intentional patient harm."  Basically, the FDA is going to start requiring a plan to do cyber security analysis and  software updates...

Little pimple right by the incision

Hello Everyone!

I have had my ICD/pacemaker for over a year, yesterday I noticed a little pimple right by the incision. It is little, red, with a white middle. I'm afraid that the bacteria from the pimple will spread to the actual pocket or device. Should I call my MD and get some antibiotics? Or just watch it? Many thanks in advance!
