2nd Degree MORBITZ I AV BLOCK WITH LOOP RECORDER.

HELLO.   Im wondering if anyone else has had a Pacemaker put in with a 2nd degre Morbitz I AV block?   And what your experiece was getting to that point?

I recently had a fainting episode and thru further investigations, was diagnosed with a 2nd Degree Morbitz I AV block thru a 24 hr Holter device.   At first I was advised that I needed a Pacemaker, and was refered to another Cardiologist who specialized in Pacemakers.  After getting a second opinion I have now been scheduled for an Implatable Loop Recorder rather than a pacemaker. .  Im relieved that I may not need a pacemaker at this stage in my life, but am still curious if anyone else has experienced the same with a Second Degree AV block Morbitz I ?

Also any stories or experiences regarding loop recorders?

Thank you

loop recorders

I don't have any personal experience with one because I have 3rd degree block but what I don't understand is why they'd bother with that step when you've passed out. You have a diagnosis, you have symptoms.  I get not wanting the pacer, but these things don't cure themselves so it's just a matter of when to fix it not if. What do they hope to learn that they don't already know?

Mobitz type I or Type II?

I was confused about whether you have Type I or Type II.

Please understand that Mobitz Type II can quickly become Complete Heart Block (or Type III). I was warned of this and it happened sometime during my first year being paced.

As usual Tracey is right.  Why bother with a loop recorder at all?  There may have been some miscommunication on that point.

Keep us posted!

Loop Recorder Implanted

by Tats - 2018-10-17 06:01:39

Hello there.  Thank you for your comments.  i ended up getting the loop recorder implanted on two days ago.  And so far so good.  It hurts to sleep on my side but I am assumng this is normal and will soon heal properly and I can get back to life as usual.

To answer your question.  im not real sure why they decided on the loop recorder.  Im assuming because with Morbitz I you dont necesarily need a PM and the cardiologist just wants more data before proceeding.    I was symptomatic on the 24 day holter.  Im guessing with the Loop recorder we will soon know if this is an every day event, or if it was just coincidnetal.

Thanks again for your continued support.

cheers

I am just thankful that I am alive and that even though I have this pacemaker it is not the end of the world.
