I think my pacemaker has moved

It used to be in Georgia with me, he just said, without any warning, that he was leaving and now I think he's living in Texas....my pacemaker that is.
Nah, just kidding. But seriously, I do think that my pacer has decided to shift a bit. I think things have stretched some. It's been 3 months. The last month or so when I moved a certain way it felt like something was stretching inside. I figured it was scar tissue, or something, but it didn't feel very pleasant. I just thought it was all a p...

pacemaker syndrome

I got a pacemaker placed (dual) two months ago and have had nothing but problems since. I feel my pacemaker when it signals either from the upper chamber or lower chamber (AV). It can be felt very low on the left side under my rib cage almost in my upper abdomen as several beats or sometimes in the middle of my chest and will make me cough. It can be positional as well that will set it off. I have seen the technician twice with the company and he made some adjustments once that made it worse and...

Big weight loss & PM removal

I wrote asking if anyone had their PM removed. In my case, I had weight loss surgery. When I was very heavy, my heart had to work HARD to keep all the extra tissue fed. When I lost the weight so quickly, I believe that was the cause of my heart rate lowering to 36BPM. It just didn't have to work so hard, and was in transition. Now, I'm over 160lbs lighter, and my own heart rate is higher than the PM setting (65BPM heart/60PM). I am wondering if my body has adjusted to the weight change, my he...

thermostat stuck?

Hello again, All. 3 months into ICD and all seems well. But I have a question. 11 years after heart attack and bypass and Toprol, Lisinopril and now Crestor, I seem to not be able to stop sweating even after light exertion. I am overweight but active and have been a heavy sweater in the past but this is getting rediculus. Any opinions???
Thanks, Clifford

Reading some of others

I read where a man died after developing an infection and having to have open heart surgery and died.

Is it common to get an infection AFTER you're healed??

Does the pacemaker have to be replaced if you get an infection??

When the batteries run down do they have to remove everything or just change the batteries?

So what Elaine was saying is that open heart surgery has to happen if the leads can't be removed easily?? How often does that happen?

alcohol?

I just had 1/2 a glass of wine. Somewhere long ago, I remember reading a posting that said it wasn't a good idea if you have a PM. Does anyone know?
Thanks, Janet

Surprise! You're dead.

I'd almost forgotten that I joined this community, until I received an email for The Pulse newsletter. I had joined a few years ago, because of my frustration with the care my dad was receiving. Since he died in February my immediate thought was to unsubscribe. Then I thought about it again, and decided to post before unsubscribing.

My dad developed an infection which was dismissed by his idiot cardiologist as a "skin infection". He was otherwise active and healthy, albeit elderly...

Colds, Flu, Etc

I have had several people, incl pharmacists, mention that I need to be very careful if I get sick. Since PM is a foreign body in your body, you can possibly get things more severe or with complications that might not have have happened before. Anyone have comments on this????

Biotronik Problems

I have sinus block -- both nodes -- and have had two different Biotronik pacers -- first a Philos then a Protos DR with CLS. I am a runner and had all sorts of problems. My Bp was high -- then low -- pacing was all over the place. The local cardiologist gave up and I finally went to a University Hospital. The doc there got on the phone with Biotronik and after 2 hours finally figured out that the CLS feature was in conflict with the motion detector. So he turned off the CLS -- this was two y...

PM removed - does it happen?

I was wondering, My pacemaker is set at 60bpm. My own heart started out at 36bpm, but in the last few months, has gone up to 65bpm. Does this mean that I don't really need the PM anymore? Does a PM ever get removed? I just thought that I would ask. Has anyone had it removed, or know of any case? I will be seeing my Dr. in 2 weeks, and was thinking of asking this question, but if no one has had it done, I will not really have info. to discuss with him.

Michaela is beautiful

Michaela was a guest speaker at our annual pacemaker gathering for the hospital for sick children in toronto and was absolutely beautiful in so many ways!
The parents, children, coordinators, staff were all thankful for the inspirational speech Miss Massachusetts.
Our theme was I CAN DO IT and was inspirational as the children performed their own special talents.
Life does go on and with the pacemaker/ICD, the quality of life is a blessing.
Thanks Michaela!!

Pacemaker Functioning

My father received his first pacemaker a couple of weeks ago. Predominantly, things are well. However, he spoke of an experience that was unsual. Once or twice per day, he feels movement in his chest. He can't locate it by placing his hand on the chest. No pain, just feels a little off. Seems like it could be gas, but is not. Interestingly, heart beat and pulse not in synch during these occurrences.

Any help or perspective would be appreciated. Enjoy the evening.

Hello My Friends!

Hi Everyone,

It has been months since I last posted. It has now been 2 and a-half years since I got my PM. Everything is still good. Had a PM interrogation last month. Still pacing 100% in the vent. but only 58% in the atrial, down from 74%. This is attributed to having been off atenolol for several weeks. Since being off atenolol I have had more energy and my emotions have returned to pretty much normal. Everyday I thank God for this technologic miracle that keeps my heart beati...

So far, welding is going fine...

So, finally back to working on a car project. Got the inner fenders of my MGB GT put in and did a lot of welding, no issues with the ICD, so that's good. I don't use mine until I exceed 220 bpm anyways, so didn't interfer with anything so far.

At least that's something....
