Symtoms after pacemaker implant
Hello All, My Dad just had a pacemaker implanted one week ago for bradycardia, he was also prescribed beta-blockers for papatations. He is still having episodes of palpatations and funny sensations like heart "thumping," and he can feel cold at times and yet flushed at other times. The Doctors have checked the pacemaker and all results show that it is running properly. Can anyone tell me if they experience similiar or even different, or funny sensations or changes since their pacemaker was im...

New pacer on 6-30-07
Just got my new device! Curious to know, from those who have had them for awhile, what physical limitations have you learned about that you did not expect? I'm 47 and pretty active. No contact sports, but golfing, skiing, bowling, swimming, fishing, biking, heavy yard work and some light weight lifting all part of my "pre pacer world". Any of these cause anyone problems? Thanks, Jim
my husband
Dear pacer and ICD friends,
I just wanted you all to know that my husband lost his battle with heart disease last night. He was very very sick and just couldn't do it anymore. I want to thank you all for being such a great support and source of information while I was searching for answers for him.
Please keep up your good work and stay strong. God bless you all.
Kathy

Thanks for your messages guys they make me feel a lot better. I told my boyfriend about this site when I visited him in hospital today and he can't wait to have a look at it when he gets out - hopefully soon, and with his new pacemaker!
Seatbelt problem
I never could understand why some of you pacers out there were having such discomfort from the driver's seat belt/shoulder harness position. Well, I drove my son's car today - and Holy Moley! Could they make the shoulder belt any lower, tighter or pacemaker unfriendly? It was a Chevy Trailblazer and I could not get it comfortable. Thankfully, I won't have to drive it again. Now I know what some of you are talking about.
I guess we all have to not only test drive future cars, but look for...

Hi everyone,
My boyfriend, who's 23 years old, is waiting to have a pacemaker fitted, after he collapsed at home 3 weeks ago. He's been in the local hospital in South Wales ever since waiting for a bed in the specialist hospital 40 miles away, where the op will be done. He was born with a murmur (which disappeared), a 2:1 heart block and AV and sinus node disease, so we knew he'd probably need a pacemaker some day, just not in these circumstances. I was just wondering if anyone has an...

I posted the other day on something that took the family by storm. My auntie had a acute heart attack. She was sweating and her chest was hurting so bad. She couldn't go up the stairs and decided to call her son to take her to the hospital. After taking her to the hospital they did and EKG and the nurse ripped the paper out of the EKG machine and took off out of the room. My cousin was a bit confused and frighten. Few minutes later and they rushed her to the back and gave her a room. Righ...
cancer
to-night i need the prayers of the group. my sister-in-law is still hanging on to life barely after no food or drink for 9 days. she is very weak and almost comatose now. we hope that god will take her this night as her husband and children can barely take anymore. it is so hard to see someone you love suffer like this.life does not seem fair at times. it is a cruel disease for sure. it strips people of all dignity. please pray for us. jessie
WAKING UP AT NIGHT
Hi everyone,
I'm so glad I discovered this site. I have an 18 month old who had a pacemaker implanted 2 months after he was born due to complete heart block -atrioventricular. As he's growing he seems to be having less complete night sleep as he wakes up about the same time almost every night (between 3 and 3:45AM), kicking, stretching forcefully, and upset. He still tries to go to sleep as you can see he's loving his night rest but something is bothering him. I don't understand why t...

weird sensations
Hello everyone:
I had my PM implanted in 2004. For the last 3 months, or so,
I 've been feeling when the heart is stimulated and I feel the shock going up to my throat and short of breath for a couple of seconds. I don't feel dizzy or fainting. Has anyone experience these sensations ?
Thanks,

Ok, it's a day after my dr visit and at work I have gotten this dizzy spell where I got hot and tingly(I knew it could go south fast lol). The school nurse said my bp was normal. So I'm wondering is this my heart at all?
My doctor put me on Paxil the week before I got the pm. He was thinking the sympoms I was having may have been stress but now I know it was the bradychardia. I'm still taking the paxil. But I'm wondering if anyone else has ever had boughts of dizziness and tingling t...

Thank-you, Rusty for asking that question and in such good description. I have had the same problem with pain(shocks/jolts), and DRs tell me it is nothing. Thanx for the other comments as well. Great info. If I am in pain I will be a pain to DRs. I have had pacer for 7 months.

Need Helpfor my Mom/80 years old
My mom is 80 years old, and went to the dr complaining of fatigue and heart palpitations. Two weeks later, after a Holder monitor, we were told she needed a pacemaker because her heart was beating too slow, caused by faulty electrical action of her heart. She had a st. judge dual chamber installed mid-March. She seems to be feeling a lot worse, not better. The fatigue and now, depression, are extreme.
We were told by the doctors on Friday (April 26) that they had never heard t...
frustrated
why can't I get into any of this
ideas?
Hello all,
I had another event today where I felt dizzy. I have a dual chamber medtronic pm for bradycardia, it only works when my bpm get below 60. I've had 3 real good weeks. I'm not sure why but the last few days I have been feeling like I'm not all there. A little light headed at times. Yesterday, out of the blue I had a wave of numbness come over me and I felt hot. The lightheadedness continued today. After work I went for a run and after 15 minutes I stopped because I was getti...
