Help me with my anxiety
Ok, Ashley got her pacemaker the day after Christmas. I am still freaking out on a daily basis, hourly basis even about her passing out. I am so scared it is going to happen again. I am afraid it is going to affect my work if I don't stop worring about it 24/7. I feel anxious to spend every minute with her afraid it might be the last one. Has anyone else gone through this when their kids first got their pacemakers or do I need to go get help with this?
anxiety, weight loss
I am writing for my mom, who is 89. She had a pm implanted early 12/08 and she feels she is "not herself". Has always been calm and easy going. Has lost weight since pm, depressed, and quite anxious. Dr. prescribed remeron and xanax, but the combination makes her so sleepy. I try to be supportive and reassure her that she will feel more herself with time. She feels that she should "make" herself feel better and becomes more anxious and frustrated. Have read the posts of people experienci...

Hello again,
Thank you for the responses, especially Angelie, very helpful. I can see this is a terrific site for new folks who are afraid and wondering if they are the only ones having problems. I am hoping that my heart will settle down in time. I did call my pacemaker clenic and they want me to come in for a check since it has only been 2 weeks since the implant.

discomfort
How long does the discomfort last after having a PM put in? Its been about a month and the seatbelt still makes it feel sore as well as just a lite touch. I also saw a lot of people talking about not sleeping well, I havent slept well for a while either and thought it was from the beta-blocker. But it sounds like it could also be from the PM it self. Although it seams to be worse after they increased my metoprolo to 200mg a day. 100mg in the am and 100mg in the pm.

small lump, info please
Hi all, a few days ago I went to get a checkup on the old PM. Ive had it for almost one month now. When I got home from the Dr. I found a small lump that I hadnt noticed before, otherwise I would have asked my Dr. when I was there. Its just to the left of my breastbone, about 3 or 4 inches from the PM site. If I push on it is just a little sore. I dont know why I would have this because its not where they cut me. If someone else has this or if someone can tell me what this is I would appr...

Depression: Helping a Depressed Loved One
When depression strikes, the depressed person isn't the only one affected. Everyone around them -- family, friends, and co-workers -- feels the impact of their depression.
Helping a loved one cope with depression can be key to his or her recovery. But it isn't always g...

first checkup tomorrow
Well, tomorrow is my first checkup with my Dr. since getting my PM. I assume he will do some adjustments on this hunk of Titanium in my chest. I dont know how they do the adjustment but Im kind of looking forward to it. Hopefully I wont be as tired after he makes the changes. Ive found that I have more energy when I get home from work since the PM. But I also find that I feel like taking a nap more often than I used to, since getting the PM. I dont know of it is because of the PM or maybe d...
Still very anxious
I appreciate the responses about getting the lead fixed, But what I really want to know is if anyone has had this kind of anxiety after getting a pm. I did not suffer from anxiety before the pm. Now even with medicine I feel like I am going crazy with anxiety. I am considering getting the pacemaker taken out. I appreciate the feed back Carmen
Help with info
Hi All
Today without thinking I raised my arm are over my head, just two weeks after having PM put in. What should I be looking for if I damaged anything? My Dr. told me under not circumstances should I raise my arm above my shoulder. I did it without thinking and not sure what to do now or what to look for. I can't be the first to do this.

Young adults with PM
I can not believe there is a web site for people with pacemakers. I am 37 and since I was in my early 30's I have had a really slow heart rate. I have never passed out but have recorded heart rates of 19 bpm and pauses of 7 seconds while awake and at work. I now have a pacemaker and do not feel that much different. I was wondering if there are any other people with the same symptoms. I did not read all the posts but the majority of people failed the tilt test. I have had numerous tilt test with...
5 months post surgery and feeling anxious again
Greetings everyone and a Merry Christmas to all. I haven't been on the site for some time which tells me that I've been feeling so much better. How ever the last few days I've been feeling a little off. I was at work yesterday(careaide so it is a physical job) and near the end of my shift I had a dizzy spell and had to sit down. The nurse took my BP which was 135/91 which is high for me and my pulse was jumping all over the place from 40 to 90. The nurse was not sure how accurate the pulse meter...
dental work
I think I saw a couple of post about dental work and some precautions. I have an appointment in about a week. Is there something i need to be careful of?

another 2000 sleep apnea
Looks like 2000 was a bad year for sleep apnea. I've my CPAP since then and I won't even try to take a nap without it. I still breakout on my nose but I sleep sooo much better. On my sleep study I slept for 5.1 hrs and stopped breathing 444 times and was told it was not severe. My wife was after me for about 5 years to be tested. Well she was right again. I just had my PM about 10 days ago and was not aware that needing a PM and having sleep apnea were some how related.
No Energy
Am a new recipient - implanted day after Thanksgiving - so a little more than 2 weeks ago - and I just find I get so tired - will I ever get my energy back?

Hi Fuad
First thing is, welcome aboard. The people here are very knowledgeable and helpful. Ive only been a member for about a week and just got my PM last Monday. So Im new to this site as well. Ive found that everyone here has been very informative and it helps to hear things from others that already went through what you are now going through. Ive really enjoyed their help.
Ron
Thanks all
I found all of your suggestions very helpful and I will heed your advice. Thanks again to all of you. So far, I love this site.

Please advise
Hi Everyone
Could someone tell me if its normal to get a small sharp pain at the site where the PM was placed? I have gotten it 5 or 6 times over the last hr. I dont think I did anything to upset it? Its not real painful, but I definitely feel it. Also it was a little sore when I woke up this morning, Iwas lying on the side where the PM is. I hope I didnt do something in my sleep. Im new to this (having a PM) so maybe Im just paranoid. I dont want to call my Dr for and drive h...
