dental work

I think I saw a couple of post about dental work and some precautions. I have an appointment in about a week. Is there something i need to be careful of?

years ago AHA recommended preventative antibiotics but they decided it's not necessary.

The hygienist at my dentist keeps one of the cables away from my chest. I think it's the cord for the polisher but I don't pay much attention! She just makes sure it goes under the chair instead of across me.

Thanks guys. Living with a PM is still new to me, so I'm still learning.

Just had a checkup

My cardio doc said no need for antibiotics. The hygienist cleaned my teeth the old fashioned way (scraping & polishing) rather than with the ultrasonic machine. She doesn't take any chances with PMs & I was glad of that because I was going to ask her not to use it because I hate it. In my opinion this is a definate benefit of being "energized"!

Handy elbow rest

I had to educate the dentist and assistant not to use my chest as an arm rest. They seemed to be very accurate in landing directly on the pacemaker site.

The x-ray machine is pretty close to the pacer but doesn't seem to be a problem.

Recent dental work the dentist was told by my EP not to use (I can't spell it), but the med that contains adrenaline.
I believe it is epinephrine ... it will cause the heart to race.
