Day 3

What a year, 2020.  Day 3 with my new pacemaker.  Bradycardia.  Bundle blockage.  Still not sure what that means.  I have 2 leads.  I'm feelling pretty good.  I felt a little light headed and dizzy yesterday but today I'm feeling pretty good so far.

I'm glad I found this forum because I suspect its going to be a good resource for information about my new normal.  Sounds like there is a lot to know about this device and my health.

New to this

I had three episodes, over three months, of what my cardiologist labeled, "heart pauses", I blacked out. With the third episode, I decided to go to the ER. As I was already wearing a heart monitor my cardiologist officer was alerted. They called just after I arrived at the ER. They said I had a pause of 8 seconds. Hyperbolic oxygen therapy.

I had a biotronic P.M. implanted about four years ago and have had no issues. Recently had some other medical issues where I need hyperbolic oxygen therapy. To my surprise Biotronic does not recommend this treatement with their devices. Was wondering if anyone in the club has run into this issue and what they did about it. I am considering changing the device to a company where this treatement is acceptable. Any information would be helpfu.

Contemplating AV Node Ablation and Pacemaker

RE Low HR

Hi I'm 54 and have had a dual chamber Meditronic PPM in place since Dec 2018 which was inserted for 2:1 heart block. The same week I had an Occlutech occluder device inserted via my groin to block a 3cm hole between my two upper heart chambers. I had some residual right sided heart failure and my cardiologist started me on a tiny dose of Bisoprolol 1.25mg.

Rate Response

3 months into my St Jude dual lead PM.  Bradycardia with total heart block. I had some problems that seemed to be too sensitive RR.  The tech changed my settings to less sensitive today.  He said if that didn’;t work better for me he would just turn it off.  My question is what difference will I notice if the RR is turned completely off...big deal or no big deal?  Input appreciated!

Rate response settings

After no settings changes after 90 day check up on my dual lead St Jude PM, I had a video appointment with my Cardiologist the next week.  He decided to tell the tech to raise my HR from 60 top 70 and make rate response more sensitive.  It seems my legs have more strength and I’m less fatigued.  But, one of the changes or the other has me wondering.  I was just riding in my golf cart not playing just watching...I followed my buddies foursome about 4 holes and it was...

new to pacemaker

Good morning, all.

Upgrading to CRT-P

I'm new to the forum but have had an implant at 11, and I am now 36. Next week I am getting a whole new device after years of a low EF (45-50) due to 100% pacing from a dual chamber. I am curious if others have had this experience? I was told I it would be good at my age to get the CRT-P to improve my EF. I HAVE A BIOTRONIK HOME MONITOR, A CARDIOMESSENGER SMART 4G, RECENTLY I HAVE GOTTEN WHAT APPEARS TO BE AN OPEN BOOK SYMBOL. CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT THIS MEANS.  ALSO WHEN I SHUT POWER OFF AND TURN BACK ON THE OK SYMBOL BLINKS AND NORMALLY OK SYMBOL DID NOT BLINK.

Seatbelt protector UK

Hi All,

New PM last week.

I'm trying to contact tghe soft touch peopl - are they open at the moment?

I'm allowed to drive now, but I'm more often a passenger in my husbands car.  The seat belt sits bang on top of the device.  If we're in mine the seat belt misses it, but a sports car is not the best for shopping!

Is there a UK supplier?

Cough

Hi. My husband had his pacemaker fitted nearly 2 years ago. He has had a cough since November. Chest X-ray in February showed clear. Covid meant it just about impossible to be seen. A gp surgery nurse phoned him after I'd contacted them saying he couldn't eat or sleep, he's so worn out. She, disappointingly, prescribed lansoprasole to try and stop the acid in his mouth through coughing so much. Mostly he's bringing up clear frothy phlegm.

High heart rate

I had a azure XT DR MRI surescan dual chamber placed about six weeks ago. At first I thought the pony races i was going on after walking was my new normal. The car rides and the bumps trigger the heart to beat over 118. I can't catch my breath. I have had one check and set at 60-130. I have tried to find anything to see if this is normal. annual check up/ a mild case of covid

Saw my ep today. Good news is the 26 year old lead is still not showing any signs of a problem. I didn't get the EF number but he looked at the echo and said it was perfect and I had the heart of an 18 year old. I was shocked to learn I still have 8-10 years on this battery. It's already 5 years old, and before this I've never had one make it past 7 so WOW. 

Bad news is he agrees with my gp that I likely had covid back in March and that it's done some damage. I feel...

AMS Episodes

Can someone provide a simple explanation of what AMS episodes are?  I have had a St. Jude 2210 for 8 years.  I usually pace 10- 12 %.  My AMS episodes have ranged from 0 to 350 until last year when it went to 3799.  My last pacer check showed 108238 AMS episodes.  My noise reversion also increased to 414.  The tech talked to me about the noise reversion but did not mention the AMS episodes and I did not see it until after I got home and reviewed my report. ...

Ouch!

Not sure what category to post this under, so: this morning, my pacer site started hurting--stinging, in sort of a rhythm.Have done nothing that would aggravate it--no heavy lifting or extreme twists, etc.

I had my 3-month check on Friday and all was well.

I sleep on my sides & can often notice its presence, just as a little pressure. The entire site--plus several inches surrounding it--has been itchy since day one. (Apparently that's normal?)

Close to Fainting

60 year old Female. have St. Jude dual chamber inserted 2/6/18. Diagnosed with SSS. Felt great for 2 years. Today, while preparing my morning smoothie, I felt faint , nauseated, broke out in a cold sweat. I caught myself on the counter. After I got my legs back I went to take BP. It was 117/68. Pulse was 70. I don't have diabetes but took my blood sugar. It was 94. Pulse Ox reading was 98%. All in all, I feel tired enough to sleep all day. PVC/PAC’s

I received pacer 4 weeks ago. I was having a high number of pvc's and PAC's and doc said implanting pacer would allow her to dose me with enough meds to control. Only med she changed was metropolol. Took me from 12.5mg to 25mg 2x a day. No change. Still excessive. Pacer set at 60. Resting HR has gone from 64-70 to 82-90. Any thoughts??
