First checkup tweaking questions

Hi Everyone
My first post on this site. Already appreciative of previous contributions - great just to know what others have gone through and the questions / concerns they have had.

Last week I had a 2 lead Biotronik Evia DR-T put in - bradiocardia and AV block. Itching to get back exercising (running, cycling, weights) but doctor says the first 2-6 weeks is critical to getting leads embedded well so plan to take it easy.

Would be keen to know what things I should be...

First Checkup

I am husband of joyzam and on Christmas eve I got a new St Judes 5820, like the one Joyce got in September.
I just had a 30 day readout and they gave me a copy, as they did with hers.
So I have been working to understand it. First, my AS-VP was pacing at 78% but AP-VP was at 21%. So he made some adjustments that the cardio agreed with to even out the bottom half being overly dependent on the pacer. I am not sure where this adjustment shows as there was only a few adjustments showing i...

QUESTIONS and GUIDENCE ON ST. JUDE PACEMAKER

I had my St. Jude Pacemaker put in on 10/22/2013. I had heartburn symptoms, dizzyness and that was it--taken to the ER and diagnosed with 3rd degree heart block and had the pacemaker put in.

I am still experiencing fogginess and lack of focus--Does anyone know what this pacemaker should be set at or could be set at to relieve these feelings?

At my last pacemaker check they told me it was set at 50 beats per minute and it would not go lower(when I was rushed to the ER I wa...

Pm replacement

I have an echo yearly, one 7/2013. Did not see cardiologist even tho I had an app. Nurse told me to go home, that if anything amiss dr would call. He did not. Near the end of 2013 his asst. called and set up an appt for 1/17/2014 at which time doctor tells me my ef has dropped from 45 to 38. He says I need a new two lead pm vs 1 lead. He sent me for a short echo on 1/2014 in prep for the new pm. Have heard nothing from him. I am feeling insecure with this doc even though he is supposed t...

Information

Hi,

I've just joined.

Have had a pacemaker since 2005, replaced battery Nov. 2012. Since getting it my life has been downhill all the way. I can no longer ride my bike without pain and discomfort.

The reason for the pacemaker was total heart block, no connection between atrium and ventricle. Basically not a serious problem as heart problems go. I have friends with triple and quadruple heart bye-pass operations who are capable of riding bikes with pleasure and...

New member question

On December 10th, I got a 2 lead pacemaker. My heart is healthy, it just didn't pump right. I'm 55, healthy, female.

On the 11th, before checking out, I went for a walk down the hospital hallway. Within 10 minutes I got a horrible pain. I ended up in surgery the next day. The doctor decided not to do the surgery, but have me tested to see if I was allergic to metal, as I do have allergies.

The cardiologist the hospital had me go to, didn't listen. He has had me on two...

Medtronics a-fib settings

This was on a previous post on this site. Another member posted the web address of the announcement from Medtronics. Can't find the post. I didn't make this up.

Took the corresponding printout to my cardiologist in December 2013. He said not FDA approved. Gone through first set of trials but not second. If he's wrong, would like to know it.

It's AdaptivCRT on the Medtronics site.

Medtronic CRT does not like hills.

Hi to all,
I had a medtronic Consulta CRT-P and AV node ablation 10 Dec, 2013, for heart failure, afib & cardiomyopathy. I was cans at last minute and rescheduled to Dec. Surgery went well went home the next day and recovered well except that my exercise tolerance dropped considerably especially on hills and stairs. Thankfully The RN at Pacemaker clinic, checked with manufacturer and it turns out the Implant Detection had not been turned off! After that I had better rate response.

Pacemaker was set to high

Hello my husband R (70) is an avid bicycle rider. He and his friends ride about 36-50 miles per day 5 times per week. ON December 2013 he was diagnosed with Swallow Syncope (very rare disease) after he passed out while eating during Christmas Eve dinner. He was taken to the ER and admitted into the hospital the same day. When he swallows, his Valgus nerve slows down his heart. After he underwent all kind of heart testing, and his heart was not the cause for his losing consciousness, the diagnos...

IMPORTANT QUESTIONS

I had a St. Jude Pacemaker installed on 10/22/2013. The pacemaker is set at 50 BPM and blood flow was at 150. On Dec 20th I had my pacemaker check and I had the sensitivity turned off and blood flow was increased to 200 since I was feeling light headed and unfocused. I do not know what all this means and I am still light headed and unfocused--what else can be done on my pacemaker to make me feel better? I am not taking any medications. Please help?

Shortness of Breath

PM fitted in April 2013 with some complications (including intermittent AF). Thought I was getting over everything, but get breathless with exercise. Recently I was taken to A&E because of SOB, PM was working 100% (60bmp, unusual for me) and they changed my PM setting from DDI to DDD. I felt better (85bpm) and was discharged. Now a week later and I still have the same SOB with exercise (eg a Shower or a flight of stairs). I have moved my PM checkup forward to next week so I can discuss with my d...

When is the post check up done

Hi,
I'm due to have the pacemaker implanted on the 3rd Feb, late afternoon and staying overnight.
In the UK are the post implantation checks done at 4 or 6 weeks? Its being done for SSS, will the DVLA definitely let me drive immediately post check? Will it be ok to drive from Suffolk to Aberdeen ,which is a long way , at 4 or 6 weeks when ever the check has been done?
My husband thinks he should be at home with me for the whole week the pacemaker is done on the Monday. Do you thi...

Thanks everyone!

Had my PM check yesterday. That was 91 days post PM implant. They did the checkout and reduced the voltage on my PM. Everything OK and I’m doing good!

Because of the info I’ve received on this forum I knew what questions to ask. Also got my PM report with no hassle. Got some additional info on the Medtronics Sure Scan PM. So that was great too.

Thanks for the help.

Lower voltage

Hi all,

I went for my first pacemaker checkup since having it implanted, and the technician said the next time I came in ( in 3 months), they will lower the voltage of my PM from 3 volts down to 1.something, in order to increase battery life. Though I didn't say anything to her, I'm concerned: if I need 3 volts now, why would that change ? She said I'm 100% dependent on the pacer, so I'm not too quick to mess with what works. Any thoughts/ ideas/ experiences ? I have a Medtronic MRI S...

Can anyone explain what the difference is between the unilateral and bipolar readings from a pacemaker? I don't know if they work together or separate. I'm new to the lingo of Pacemakers.
