Interrogation -- elevated pulse

After exercising I sometimes have an elevated pulse for hours where my heart rate doubles and stays around 120; in other words, it does not normally recover. This has been checked out by my cardiologist and it seems not to be a dangerous rhythm, but my question is: does the Medtronic Enrhythm I have note this change if it is just an elevated pulse? (So I shouldn't call this an "arrythmia"?)

Thanks.

Cycling while 100% Paced

I've had a dual chamber Medtronics PM since 2008. In 2010, I received a catheter ablation, which leaves me atrium 100% paced from 70-130bpm. I have normal in-heart electrical pathways between upper and lower chambers. My issue is cycling, which I took up about a year ago. Most of our riding is road bike on paved roads. Bottom line is I get very little rate increase as we ride. I rarely see the rate rise above 104 bpm. On hills as I climb, the PM will actually slow me to 90-94 bpm when I need to...

Light headed

I had an AICD implanted June of this year, after 3 bouts of receiving a shock, my medicine has seemed to smooth things out. When I do anything physical, walking around, climbing stairs, I feel strange. Sort of light headed, sometimes some shortness of breath. Has anyone else had similar issues? Just wondering how normal this is

Avid golfer

I'm 91 yrs young. Just had my PM installed a week ago 8/17/15.
So far no problems.
I was glad to see the article by Artist on 8-25-2015 about sleep apnea.
My apnea test some three weeks ago indicated 40 missed breaths an hour,
I just received my apnea machine. Its uncomfortable to use. Am wondering about taking the test again. Will be asking my doctor this next week or so,

One remaining question. Any other golfers had a recent PM and how long before they were back...

Exercises using weights/cables

This is my 6th day after having my PM installed. Prior to this I have been going to the gym almost everyday doing cardio like stationery biking & some mild weights like 60lbs for bench press, 30lbs for biceps, etc more for keeping fit than anything else. I was cautioned not to indulge in weights anymore as it might damage the wires in the body, etc. I just wonder if anyone has done weight training after installing a PM. It will be a wonderful piece of info if anyone can help share their exper...

Heart Rate rises very quickly when out walking.

Hi
I am 55 and now 4 weeks post PM implant (Medtronic dual chamber) and am starting to feel more like me again. I had level 3 heartblock and the PM was fitted as an emergency procedure.
I wasn't very fit before the PM was fitted, although I was active before all this kicked off - it's been developing for about 4 months and as I only had 2 hours notice prior to the op, didn't really have too much time to understand what was happening.
I have to say my technicians have been great...

Soon to get Pacemaker

I am a backpacker. Should I have the pacemaker installed above or below the muscle to be the most comfortable when carrying a 40 pound pack? Doctor says he can put it in either place. Any backpackers out there that can comment on things to do to ensure the left strap does not irritate me or bother the pacemaker itself?

A little nervous...

I just had my PM put in May of this year - 2015. It's a medtronics dual chamber. I was cleared after two weeks to begin my pilates and exercising, but with limited range of movement and no weight excess of 5lbs until after 6 weeks.
I started increasing my movement in my left arm recently and now I have sharp burning pains in my left side at the PM site. The PM site looks great, incision is not red, or warm to the touch. It's just a sharp, burning pain throughout the day and night.
I...

Football

Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me out. I have recently (2weeks ago) had a duel chamber pacemaker fitter.
I have looked through all the do's and don'ts and they advise a lot of things. However I am 22 and playing football is a large part of my life, they mention that it would be good to get a padded shirt/ vest.
Has anyone managed to find a suitable one or where I would even start to look.
Thanks for any help
Ed

When to mow ..

July 15, 2015 , first hours of the St Jude two lead PM, implanted subcutaneously below the left side collarbone .. I was strongly(IMO) advised not to do anything but lay around like a vegetable for many weeks (about 8) ..
Yesterday, I used the Simplicity ZT1644 mower for 30 minutes , easy, no strain, 90% one hand operation ..
But, with the pull hard to start equipment (mower, shredder, blower, etc.) a different story .. this may be too much strain/stress on the left side shou...

My HR does not rise when I run

I am a 69 year old triathlete and having a PM implanted this week. I have a low resting heart rate, about 42. I have been experiencing dizziness and shortness of breath when running. On a recent stress EKG, my HR did not rise above 74 when I was running on the treadmill. When not exercising, I sometimes have mild symptoms, but am generally OK.

I understand that a PM will pace the heart of a sedentary person to a higher HR if it falls below a set level and bring it back to a certain mi...

Fitbit Charge HR

From my understanding there is no problem with using a Fitbit with my pm. However, my question is specifically with the Charge HR which tracks heart rate as well as tracking other entities. I am not sure of the technology involved in capturing the heart rate and wondered if there is any interference or potential for problems between this device and my pm. I suppose I should call Fitbit as well as my EP's office but wondered if anyone else has looked into this! Just don't want to mess up my pm! T...

boston sci question

I have a Boston Scientific k173. I had the tech put the accelerometer on passive, and just use the minute ventilator. After several adjustments it seems to work great. A lot better than the St Jude I had before.

When I get on a strider in the gym on a low setting and use just my left arm, the HR goes to the max 155 within 30 seconds. When I use just the right arm it slows to about 110. I am not breathing hard at all. Is there something wrong with my pacer?

The same thing wi...

When running HBR max 115, have to stop and walk

Hi
I am 44 female with a PM for 22 months, active lifestyle, yoga, running, work full time, 3 kids, give free yoga classes on saturdays, walk my dog... :)
I used to run 6 miles a day at 9.5 min/mile but 18 months before my PM my running capacity was reduced dramatically, the speed drop down and I had to walk for periods of time. I got my PM in August 2013 and still haven´t recovered my capacity.
Now I run 3.5 miles a day at 13 min/mile have to stop for a walk, my PM works 97% of...
